My first attempt at using my new POSCAs that I was able to pick up because of the support of all the rad people here on patreon!
This is approximately 4"x5" and done on a "marker paper".
This is an alternate color scheme of my OC, Juniper because I lack the colors to properly paint her as of now.
It was incredibly fun to work with this medium for the first time!
I learned so much from this first attempt!
First of all, posca pens are really interesting tools. I had followed the instructions on the posca webpage for getting the pens ready to use and, well, I lost a bunch of my white paint because it splorted all over due to the air pressure!
So, I frantically went searching to see if maybe they had gotten a bunch of pressure inside when they travelled to me..
Turns out, they're just like that normally so the best way to get them ready is this:
1) hold the pen with the nib pointed up.
2) gently press down on the nib, to release the air.
3) shake the pen up a TON
4) using scrap paper, gently press the nib on the sheet about half way in over and over.
5) the paint will slowly flow through the nib and you're good to go!
Additionally, I learned that POSCAs are WET AS HECK. The paint along with the abrasiveness of the nib itself will break down most paper and cause major pilling.
I'm going to be testing different surfaces next!
Here is a series of WIPs
