Chapter 12 – True Identity

Around the same time when Erio rushed out of his inn.

Sister Claire was heading toward the next city on a carriage that was being driven by her bodyguard, the female knight Sylvia.

Sylvia talked to Claire who was slovenly lying down under the canopy on the back.

「Was it really alright? We already came this far, and yet we parted  way from Eriol-dono and Allie-dono not even one day after we met them.」

「It can’t be helped.」

Sister Claire answered while enjoying with relish the alcohol and  snack that she pilfered……she asked for a share from the party that the  village held.

「Certainly Eriol-sama was hiding an unthinkable strength for his age,  but he’s still growing and not yet ready to oppose the rotten church as  well as the holy theocracy. He shouldn’t get involved too deeply with  us at the present time. Furthermore they will grow even more by acting  separately from us for now. The best plan for the time being is to  simply give him an appropriate advice and a helpful item.」

「So that’s how it is……still we became acquainted with them very  smoothly that I question whether it was really necessary for us to get  bitten by Spotted Snake before meeting them.」

Sister Claire lifted her face in indignation when she heard the complaint that Sylvia said.

「What are you saying! I told you, a hero would appear and save us  from danger if we collapsed at that place! I knew that help would surely  come, so there wasn’t any risk from the start.」

「You said that but even your oracle isn’t absolute. Next time please  absolutely desist from doing something like allowing ourselves to be  bitten by poisonous snake on purpose. You even set a snake on me while I  was off guard……. I was really at my wits’ end when Eriol-dono let  slipped that he didn’t have the antidote with him……」

「You are as prudish as usual. It should be fine even if you stop thinking too much for a little.」

Sister Claire casually ignored Sylvia’s opinion while gulping down alcohol.

Her face reddened and her eyes moistened like a maiden in love.

「Even so, that gentleman called Eriol was more charming than I  imagined. His Gift is unknown, but he has strong waist and legs which  are the foundation for combat. His staggering mana that overflowed from  the center of his lower body, his adorable face, his pure character……I  visited his room last night only to hand over the Mighty Mana Crystal,  but at that time I was even struck with the temptation that perhaps I  should take the opportunity to slip into his bed immediately.」

「That’s something you must not do.」

Sylvia’s voice became even harsher in respond to Sister Claire’s words.

「It might not be my place to say this as someone who’s lending a hand  in your escape but……you are not someone who is allowed to surrender  your chastity that easily. Even if this journey has the secondary  purpose of you searching for a spouse, you have to carefully select your  partner with prudence on top of prudence.」

「Well, certainly that is right but……I think it won’t be a problem if the person is Eriol-sama you know?」

Sister Claire smiled at Sylvia’s rebuke as though she had seen through everything.

「After all it has been the custom since the ancient time for the hero  who save the world to become the spouse of the holy maiden.」
