Orc

If city assault battle had to be described in one phrase, then it was a [zombie attack].

Dying was only natural for the players.

Even if they failed in capturing the city, they would still obtain information that could be used for the next time.

They investigated the reason of their failure, and then they modified  their avatar and their equipment before giving it another try.

The Capital of Lust was under constant attack from the players.

Teito and Platina, the two top leaders too were predicting that they would fail in the city assault battle this time too.

At present, they thought that their chance of success was small.

The second day of the battle.

The two came out from their tent when morning came and watched the players taking position.

The screens that were floating around them were displaying various information.

Teito was watching that while making a remark that was based on all his experiences until now.

「……It’s no good too this time huh. We don’t have the strength to make  the last push. Surely our force will get routed inside even if we  manage to break through the wall.」

Destroying the wall and attacking inside the city.

He was calmly evaluating that they would lose at that stage.

Normally they should retreat at this point, but this world was a virtual world.

Teito also agreed to Platina’s words.

Teito looked at one of the screens.

「Looks like the problem children are in position.」

He saw Ponsuke and his guild were in position. Platina looked at the  positioning with her own eyes instead of the screens. She could look to  far away thanks to her high elf avatar and her skills.

That was exactly why she noticed.

「……Those guys, just what are they doing?」

Human cannon. No, perhaps it was ought to be called orc cannon.

Ponsuke’s head popped out from the large cannon while he was giving instructions.

Bluntly speaking he looked stupid, but the person himself looked a hundred percent serious.

(This is a bit scary.)

If he could be honest, he was feeling a bit scared when he thought that he was going to get fired out of cannon after this.

「All hands, get into your position!」

When he looked around, he saw the other orcs being stuffed into cannons just like him.

Their head popped out from the cannon with blushing cheeks.

「Kuh, my heart can’t stop pounding from this treatment.」

「Do it! Lit the fire already!」

「I’m glad I joined this guild!」

The surrounding ignored the words of the orcs and continued the preparation.

Lighter was grinning in front of a big lever that looked disproportionate to his small gnome body.

Ponsuke yelled at Lighter.

Lighter pulled the lever hard and orcs were fired one after another from the thirteen cannons.

The orcs were mostly naked and kept their body ramrod straight as  they were fired. And then their momentum decreased, making their  trajectory to curve like an arc to infiltrate into the city over the  wall.

All the orcs deployed their equipments and wore them.

The monsters who came out from inside the city to intercept intruders launched their attack on the orcs.

Ponsuke raised his great shield and blocked their attacks.

「Nuoh!」

The attack from powerful incubus monster blew away Ponsuke until the wall.

His back struck the wall and his body fell, but he rolled on the vertical wall and landed on the ground with reduced impact.

When he lifted up his face, monsters at the surrounding saw Ponsuke and reacted all at once.

They lifted up their weapons and pointed them toward him.

Anyway they readied themselves to attack.

「Right in the middle of the enemies――well, I’m already prepared for this!」

Ponsuke removed his equipments and used orc’s special skill――Berserk.

Ponsuke’s body mad creaking sound and then his thick limbs became even bigger.

Horns grew and the bone structure of his face changed. His mouth grew bigger.

His head looked like a wolf.

The monsters attacked all at once, but the enlarged Ponsuke roared  and with a single swing of his arm the monsters were blown away.

Berserk temporarily increased his status and turned him powerful.

But, naturally there were also demerits to it.

One of them was it made the player unable to differentiate between enemy and ally.

In addition they also would lose control. They became completely unable to control their rampaging avatar.

(It’s difficult to control like usual!)

Ponsuke somehow directed his body that wouldn’t move like he wanted toward the gate.

When he turned his focus to the surrounding, the other orcs who got  fired into the city also had turned Berserk and grew in size. They  destroyed the monsters and buildings one after another.

They all had purple skin, and yet Ponsuke alone was colored red.

The thirteen orcs were rampaging inside the city.

However monsters kept appearing no matter how many they defeated.

There were also some powerful enemies among them. At this rate they would get hunted down instead the more time passed.

(If we don’t somehow open the gate――wait!)

Then, the berserk orcs that were rampaging inside the city got into  glaring match with each other. They were in a state that couldn’t  differentiate between enemy and ally. The avatars couldn’t receive  control from the players properly.

In other words, everything other than themselves was enemy.

Two orcs roared and started fighting while ignoring the monsters around them.

(What the hell are you guys doinggggg!)

Ponsuke screamed inside his heart, then he realized that his body suddenly changed movement.

The avatar struck the ground with its two arms, and then it pulled out two rugged great swords from there.

(O-oi, what’s with this so suddenly? You, what are――)

Around the avatar that stopped moving and displayed two swords style were three fellow orcs with the same appearance.

Ponsuke was surrounded.

One of them was Prey.

(Prey-san! At this rate we will just crush each other. Let’s get away from each other somehow!)

Ponsuke sent a message. Then a reply came back from Prey.

(……Ponsuke-kun, I always have this thought. No, I tried to stop  myself from realizing it. But, it seems that you aren’t someone at our  side.)

He thought that, but Prey and others were a hundred percent serious.

The movement of the orcs that started fighting among themselves  stopped. Nanako who was descending with parachute was blowing into her  ocarina.

The berserk orcs rejoiced and gathered around to support Nanako’s landing.

(It’s Nanako-chan! Nanako-chan is hereeee!)

The orcs were in jubilation. The players inside were also the same.

But, monsters came attacking to kill the descending Nanko.

(I’ll murder youuu!)

(How dare you damn incubuses!)

The orcs attacked those monsters.

But, their attacks couldn’t reach the sky.

Nanako’s parachute was hit and she fell down.

(Nanako-chan!)

Ponsuke dashed and advanced while scattering the monsters on his way. And then he jumped in order to catch Nanako.

He turned his back toward the ground.

He spread out his hands wide open so he could receive her on his stomach.

He fell and his back hit the ground hard, even so Ponsuke caught Nanako successfully, protecting her.

「Ponsuke-san!」

(I-I’m fine. It’s a bit painful though.)

Tears flowed from Prey’s eyes when he saw what happened.

(Ponsuke-kun, you’re really……to think you positioned yourself to get  stomped by Nanako-chan with such servile pose……I was wrong. You are our  comrade――no, kindred soul!)

Ponsuke ignored that triviality and put Nanako on his shoulder.

The monster tamer Nanako used her ocarina to control monsters using sound.

It was also effective against the berserk orcs and the thirteen orcs gathered under Nanako.

「Everyone! Please destroy the gate!」

Nanako gave the order. The orcs roared and headed toward the gate all at once.

Midway, they smashed the monsters on their way and kept advancing.

When they arrived to the gate, there were powerful monsters that were  stationed there so they would come out after the gate was destroyed.

They were bigger than the orcs.

Their status were also higher than the orcs.

The monsters that they were leading numbered more than a thousand…….

The monsters were blasted away in front of the thirteen orcs.

The mid-bosses protecting the gate also got surrounded by the orcs  and beaten up until they turned into red light and scattered into  nothing.

Ponsuke destroyed the gate with the two great swords in his hands and blew them away.

The faces of the players outside came into view.

The mouths of Teito and Platina were hanging open in astonishment.

For some reason there were players that got shot out using cannons,  but they thought that it was an idiotic act of throwing in combat  strength in the middle of enemies.

However, the gate got blown away after a while.

It was possible to attack into the city now.

「N-no way. Those guys, they threw their damn comrades into the city without hesitation!」

「Impossible. What’s with that. How can they destroy the gate with just that number?」

There were players that had tried what Ponsuke and co did.

They tried but, the players who got launched into the city only got done in by the monsters there.

In other words, it was considered as unusable method.

Messages asking for order got sent one after another to these two who were the central personage of the battle.

『Oi, what’s going on here!?』

『We aren’t prepared to go into all out attack here!』

『Should we abandon the siege weapons and rush in? Hey, what should we do now!?』

The surrounding also didn’t know what to do in respond to the sudden development.

In the first place, they were all thinking that even if they could destroy the gate, that would happen around the fifth day.

The gate getting destroyed in the second day was completely unusual.

Nanako who was riding on Ponsuke’s shoulder explained the situation with a troubled smile.

「A-actually other tamers than me also marched in. But, I was the only  one who managed to land safely. Everyone else got defeated on the way.」

The reason only Nanako came to the location of POnsuke and other orcs  because everyone else was defeated before they could arrive.

Alfie and Mariela were running riot because they couldn’t ride on Ponsuke’s shoulder.

(What a nuisance.)

「B-but, all the mister orcs are rejoicing. They said that they want reward so we can’t possibly stop them.」

This was a sight that a middle school girl mustn’t see.

Rook approached the dumbfounded Ponsuke and others.

「Ponsuke, great job!」

Ponsuke brought his face close toward Rook.

Rook laughed.

「Orc seriously look like a monster when in berserk mode you know. Even so, orc is powerful huh. I’m jealous.」

(Well, that depends on how you use it.)

Orc race had gotten cold treatment until now.

However, Ponsuke was happy because he was able to show its usefulness through this city assault.

Rook rested his prided great sword on his shoulder.

「It will take some time until everyone can gather. We’ll have to  protect this place with just us for a while. Even the clearing group got  shocked yeah.」

The other guilds were currently running around busily to prepare for attacking into the city.

Rook boasted about his comrade. Then Ponsuke looked at his own comrades.

His guild was also a gathering of extremely capable players, and yet he was unable to honestly boast about them.
