Chapter 3: Actually It Was a Lie That Blue Mountain Was Purveyor to the Royal Family

After that, the rooms that would be used for Kururu’s private room and workshop were decided and the two of us drew the design for the workshop.

Kururu’s private room was next to mine. My room was sandwiched between Kururu and Tita’s rooms.

And then the workshop would be in the basement. It was decided like that because it used up wide space, it needed high soundproofing, and there it would be easier to make use of the leyline.

「Please wait a little bit more okay? I’ll finish up the simple design soon.」

Kururu was drawing the blueprint with intense concentration since some time ago.

Kururu’s new workshop would be based on Kururu’s previous workshop. The design was created by mixing magical facility into it.

First Kururu made the tentative plan and later I would realize it.

I had nothing to do while Kururu was drawing the blueprint, so I went to prepare a bit of surprise for her.

「This is the knowledge Kururu will need to make use of magic for blacksmithing. You better read them starting from the upper left corner.」

This was the magic to print the image inside my brain that was my specialty.

Especially in Kururu’s case where she had a clear goal of adopting magic into her blacksmithing.

Practicing the theories was also important.

「I’m confident that my love for smithing won’t lose against anyone. More importantly, what do you think about this blueprint?」

「Is something like playfulness or pointlessness necessary?」

「If you make it too stuffy and efficient, you won’t be able to add more to it later. You need augmentability. Especially in the case of Kururu who has interests to many things and is going to learn magic after this. You don’t know what kind of facility you will need later right?」

「I see. I never even considered that something like playfulness and pointlessness will be necessary. I discover a lot of new things when Ork-san is with me. Then let’s quickly revise it……how about like this?」

「It looks good now. You can add most things later if it’s like this. Next is about the facility related to magic.」

「Ah, I’ll leave it all to you Ork-san for that.」

Kururu held the blueprint to me.

「Is that fine?」

Zacharic Company was also a big company that handled every kind of products. It also had a lot of affiliated shops that were aimed toward the general public.

But, this headquarters gathered high class luxury grocery item that was aimed toward super celebrity in the first floor. Its second and third floors were acting as the heart of Zacharic Company.

People who came to negotiate with Zacharic Company would be struck with fear the moment they saw the splendor of the building. They would be shown the shop at the first floor that was selling products that the average company would never be able to handle for their whole life and the clienteles who were purchasing such items.

They would be swallowed by Zacharic Company’s power even before the negotiation began.

For merchant dressing up wasn’t for pleasure but as a weapon.

「Are you also planning to build this kind of mansion one day Ork?」

「I wonder. The materials of this mansion are rare and expensive and they are used to show off the company’s wealth and power. That’s fine in its own way, but if I’m going to build the ideal home for Tita and Kururu and me, I want to prioritize convenience of living and warmth.」

「You’re right, surely it should be like that. I like that kind of home better rather than something pretty but cold like this.」

The mansion that was suitable for a merchant must be this kind of mansion.

Merchant often got the chance to invite someone to their home and entertain them. The efficient way to show off their deep pocket and status was to show off things that were obviously expensive.

Their owners loved that and gathered them here. From that style, it was conveyed what kind of person the president of Zacharic Company was.

「A thousand thanks for inviting us here today, Theodorf Zacharic-sama.」

Tita and I gave a greeting in the style of merchant.

Tita’s greeting was perfect. She had properly learned what I taught her.

「Thank you for coming here. I have been waiting impatiently for Ork-kun to come here. Take a seat.」

This gentleman who was nearing old age was none other than the only person in this world who could stand equal with the god of merchant Helf Randall. Theodorf Zacharic.

It was a godsend that I was able to meet him in the caravan.

The likes of me couldn’t hold a candle to him when it came to talent as merchant.

Tita and I took a seat.

Then tea and snacks were served.

Coffee couldn’t be cultivated in this continent due to the climate here. It was necessary to use sea route and procured this from a land faraway.

And then there was no doubt that coffee was an extremely attractive product.

The coffee’s alluring scent, its stimulant effect from the caffeine, its unique sour and bitter taste, its faint atmosphere of elegance.

「But, this is really similar with the one you created Ork. Besides, the one Ork created was more delicious.」

「……Tita, that should be enough for this topic. Forgive me Zacharic-sama. How about we begin our business talk.」

「No, as expected I can’t possibly pretend to not hear that. That herb tea of yours, can you allow me to partake of it next time?」

The coffee, no, he called it cohilk, he served it to us in order to show us the difference in strength between us and seized the initiative.

But not only he failed to seize the initiative, he learned that there was even the possibility of his business using cohilk would be crushed. So it was impossible for him to withdraw here.

I needed to respond to this appropriately.

(I have two choices.)

The first choice was in case I only focused on earning money.

If I only focused on that, later on I would serve him the imitation coffee that I had intentionally made to taste worse so that he could feel at ease that my imitation coffee couldn’t possibly match cohilk.

And then in the future I would wait for the timing when Zacharic Company was selling coffee in large scale and the market demand of it was great before I launched my mass produced imitation coffee with lower price than cohilk.

Because this company was burdened with the cost of transporting coffee bean from the other side of the sea far, far away, I absolutely wouldn’t lose in the price war.

With this choice, Zacharic Company would be in charge of advertising coffee and making it pervading into the society at the beginning which was the work that would cost the most effort and money in this business, and then I would only need to snatch away the juicy part at the end without much effort myself.

I could also work together with my teacher Helf Randall for that.

(If I take this choice, my relationship with this person will be completely severed.)

And then the second choice was to ignore the immediate profit and showed my sincerity to Zacharic Company in order to form a long time relationship with them.

I weighed the two choices of profit and relationship inside my head and formed my answer before opening my mouth.

「Zacharic-san, actually I just happen to bring that herb tea with me, which I called coffee. Let me treat you with that.」

I decided to prioritize my relationship with Zacharic Company.

After all by doing that, I would be able to obtain so much money that wouldn’t even compare with a big earning from something like imitation coffee.

This would be my first step toward that.
