Chapter 10: Sister Princess

Forland Kingdom was far, very very far.

After all I made this commercial city as my base because it was so  far away from the influence of Forland Kingdom and demon king army.

Even without me asking for it, that wise king Vareo who acted like a  doting grandfather to his great-grandchild would accommodate me with a  lot of things if he could, and there was also one outrageous person  among the demon king’s four heavenly kings.

The way they pampered me was unusual.

The distance was around 400 km. Even using a normal horse carriage, a  time around ten days were needed to traverse that distance even if they  hurried.

I had no intention of spending that much time just for traveling.

「It’s Orc Car Second Edition. We are in a hurry right? We can’t waste ten days just to travel.」

The other day, I remodeled the Orc Car that I previously made in a  rush and perfected its design. Now we were rushing off in this Orc Car  Second Edition.

The first edition was made in only three days and I only focused in  just having it able to run. Its design was rough and the precision of  each part was inadequate. I was also unable to make any complicated  mechanism.

But, I this time I had time so I put a lot of improvements.

The magic power motor that was the heart of this vehicle was remade  from zero. It made economical use of energy and high output a reality.

The steering wheel was made so that it could be rotated and now the vehicle could freely perform cornering.

To make it suited for off-road terrain, the tires were enlarged and I  also carefully picked the material so that its impact absorption  ability was drastically increased.

Unexpectedly the material that I used was the skin of the world tree  devouring demon bug. It was light, tough, and its grip was also  excellent. Its spec eclipsed even the newest material in my previous  life.

The trick that I applied to increase its off-road capability wasn’t just that. I also installed a powerful suspension.

Thanks to the big tires made from dream-like material and the super  powerful suspension, Orc Car now could travel through bad road in high  speed even without relying on caterpillar track. The shaking was also  extremely weak.

In fact, even Kururu who got deathly pale in her previous experience was enjoying the scenery this time.

「It has become incomparably pleasant than before.」(Tita)

「Yes, if it’s like this then I won’t get sick from riding this. It  was worth it to work hard in helping Ork-san making this……I don’t want  to go through the previous experience anymore.」

Tita and Kururu were also composed because this was their second time riding this.

The acceptance to Orc Car Second Edition was great.

「Prince Ork, what in the world is this?」

Moulin’s face was twitching. Even though the riding comfort was great, this was his first time experiencing this speed.

The price that I offered was around two hundred million if it was converted to Japanese yen.

Although I used expensive magic medium for the vehicle’s material, the cost was only around one fiftieth of the selling price.

There was other reason for the high price.

Orc Car couldn’t be mass produced. It included a lot of magical  components, so I was the only one who could create it. In the future it  was possible that even Kururu would also be able to make it, but right  now the best she could do was just to help out.

Considering the necessary effort and time needed because I was the  only one who could create it, the rarity of the item because of that,  and also this thing’s value and utility, the price that I offered wasn’t  absurd by any means.

「That’s really cheap, please allow me to make an order.」

「Can you pay that price? You just gotten fired from your post as minister right?」

「Although I have been fired as a minister, I have a duke title and a  territory that I have to protect. Please don’t look down on me too  much.」

In Forland Kingdom, nobles also held additional post like being a minister and the like.

The core duty of noble was to rule his territory. In the case of  someone like Moulin, he entrusted the management of his territory to his  little brother and son while he stayed in the captail to assist the  king as a minister.

With the strength of a duke house, just two hundred million was a price that could be paid easily.

「Sold. I’ll be able to deliver it if I have one month after returning to the commercial city.」

「Thank you very much. This is a wonderful purchase. I will be able to regain that investment if I have two months.」

As expected, Moulin was a capable man.

He understood the excellence of Orc Car Second Edition. Furthermore  he had also drawn the vision of regaining the investment of a mere two  hundred million in two months if he made use of this Orc Car.

And yet a man like this got fired from his job. The first prince Falta might be an unthinkable fool.

Orc Car Second Edition displayed a spec that was exactly like I  designed it. It finished the trip without me needing to use the  caterpillar tracks for super bad road even once.

「Hahaha, I can’t believe it. We travel that far until here in just eight hours. It’s like I’m dreaming.」

「I thought I wouldn’t be surprised anymore no matter what happen, but  I got a scare when this car cut across that large lake.」(Tita)

「There was a strange part in the blueprint. I was confused of its purpose, but it was actually for this huh.」

「Orc Car Second Edition is amphibious. If you are so inclined it can even cross the sea and go until another continent.」

Unlike its predecessor, the frame was made from super lightweight and  super hard special alchemic metal material. On top of that, it was able  to obtain buoyancy from the large demon bug wheel.

Also with a single button push, the magic power motor could switch from supplying driving force to the wheels to propeller.

Thanks to this transformation ability, this car could cross straight  through a large lake that usually they had to take a detour to pass  through.

「Is the Orc Car with sixty percent spec that I’m buying will also have the transformation ability?」

「It won’t. That function will increase the car’s failure rate. I  can’t make the mechanism too complicated because there won’t be anyone  around you who can fix. I need extreme specs for something that I’m  using myself, but for business products what I need is an extreme  reliability instead.」

The car that I sold only had sixty percent capability wasn’t because I was being mean.

Orc Car Second Edition’s high performace came from complicated  mechanism that increased the vehicle’s failure rate. But I judged that  with me there it would be possible to fix it.

The commercial version needed reliability that the vehicle wouldn’t  break as long as nothing extreme occurred. Because of that I would need  to simplify the mechanism and omitted a part of the functions.

「That makes sense. As expected from someone who was trained by the  merchant god……now then, let’s go to the royal palace immediately.」

「Have you notified them about my arrival beforehand?」

「Why so reserved? Forland Palace is Prince Ork’s home. You should enter brazenly right from the front.」

Well, that was certainly true.

A prince suddenly came home bringing two wives……thinking carefully, it felt like quite a big scandal.

I left Orc Car in Moulin’s residence in the capital.

And then we headed to the palace using the horse carriage that Moulin had intentionally prepared.

I needed to keep up some appearance when entering the palace.

Orc Car was far above Moulin’s carriage in regard to performance and  price, but unfortunately Orc Car was designed with a complete focus  toward utility, and on top of that its shape was too peculiar for a  carriage and it didn’t have any horse pulling it. Such thing wasn’t  suitable to enter the palace at all.

「It’s my first time seeing Forland Palace. This place is like a castle whose purpose was for battle.」

「Yes, right now this country is famous as a superpower and it’s  unthinkable that this capital will every come to be under attack, but in  my youth this country is no more than a single small country among  many. It wasn’t just once or twice that this place had become a  battlefield.」

There were two kinds of castle.

A castle that prioritized beauty and luxury using extravagant decoration in order to display the country’s status.

The other type was a castle that was purposed for war. It was a  fortress with solid defense and tricks applied all over the place in  order to enable the defender to attack the enemy easily.

That was why, a palace normally would be the first type that was showing off the country’s riches and culture.

However, Forland Palace was a castle that was build with complete  focus on functionality. Each time it got damaged the damaged parts would  be repaired and strengthened haphazardly. That was why the palace was  powerful but had crooked and ugly shape.

「Have you ever thought of rebuilding this palace?」

「There were also suggestions for that. But, the wise king Vareo said  this. 『What are you going to do if the heart of the country isn’t  created to be the sturdiest? Isn’t it fine that it’s boorish? Isn’t it  fine that it’s scarred all over? Isn’t it fine that it’s crooked? Those  are the proof of all the battles we went through to reach this point.  All those ugliness are my pride』……that was what he said. I also feel the  same. This palace is far more elegant than a magnificent castle without  a single scratch on it.」

I also nodded, Something beautiful and luxurious could be created anytime one wanted.

But, scars and pride that were accumulated together with history like this palace couldn’t be replaced by anything.

We crossed the bridge over a deep water moat and went into the  courtyard behind the palace’s opened gate. The carriage moved for a  while before we got out and entered the palace. There a lot of servants  welcomed us with a bow.

She looked a bit younger than me.

She was a beautiful girl with chestnut colored hair who possessed both cuteness and elegance.

Such girl came running toward me.

「You are finally here, Ork-niisama. Rurine has been really really lonely all this time.」

That girl leaped toward me and hugged me.

Tita and Kururu watched with their eyes opened wide in surprise.

「Nice to meet you. This is our first time meeting, and yet you seem like you know me really well.」

「Yes, great grandfather and Moulin-sama has told Rurine lots and lots  about Ork-niisama. They always said about how Ork-niisama is so capable  and cool.」

「What do you think after seeing the real thing?」

「You are even more cooler in person than in their story!」

Hahaha, what a cute little fellow.

When I patted her head, she smiled brightly and rubbed her cheeks on  me. Her skin was unbelievable smooth and springy. The scent of elegant  perfume that she wore moderately felt pleasant.

Tita and Kururu’s shock was growing bigger.

I was also surprised.

All my wooing to girls until now had never gone smoothly from the  start. I always started my approach from minus positivity level.

But, Rurine’s positivity level for me was at maximum right from the start……appearance wise.

No, Rurine was intentionally making it looked like that.

Rurine was a really interesting girl.

I’d save this country while pushing that achievement to Rurine.

For now I’d pretend to be tricked by her acting.

That way would be more comfortable for her, and it would also increase my contact with her.
