Unlimited Fafnir Vol 13 Afterword

Afterword

.

It’s Tsukasa.

The series is already at the thirteenth volume when I realized it. Thank you very much for picking up Unlimited Fafnir XIII Stardust Cry.

To be honest, it’s my first time entering the domain of volume 13 numbering. One of my previous series reached a total of 16 volumes, but the volume numbering was reset at volume 12, so volume 13 didn’t exist.

That’s why, this volume is a book where I took a new step forward (exaggerating). And coincidentally this year is also the tenth year since my debut, so it made me emotional somehow.

When I tried looking back, it was ten years where I never knew of even the next step to take.

When I debuted, I was a fourth year college student. When I was contacted about winning a prize, I immediately turned down an unofficial offer from a certain company. That decision came from my feeling that wanted to focus on writing, but at that point of time I still didn’t even know whether I would be able to publish a book. This thing called momentum is really scary.

After that I worked part-time while doing my writing, but even when my debut work that got serialized continued to be published, I didn’t know what would happen from there and I still couldn’t really feel the awareness that I had become a “light novel writer”.

What should I do so I could live as a novelist. Such question was in my mind the whole time while I attended various events, or tried writing a work that wasn’t for my job. I just struggled with anything that came into mind.

And then I formed many connections through that and had a fortunate encounter──even now I somehow can still write my story.

But in the end, even now I didn’t understand something like “the way to live as light novel writer”. My sight forward was still pitch black.

But even within such darkness there were glimpses of light that could be seen──those lights might be the people who I got involved with in these ten years. It felt like that as long as I could see those lights, at least I wouldn’t lose sight of the direction where I should go to.

The volume this time, Stardust Cry is also a story of facing deep darkness, although in different connotation (I made that slightly embarrassing poetic representation in order to forcefully connect it to this. Seriously).

Mitsuki who flew away carrying End Matter with her, and Yuu and others who were chasing after her. How did they face the darkness and fight it──I hope that everyone will keep following their story until the end.

Then for the thanks.

Korie Riko-sensei. You have drawn lovely and cute illustrations too this time, thank you very much!

This work called Fafnir could catch the eyes of many people and made them picked it up is undoubtedly thanks to Korie-sensei. I believe that the charming characters that are drawn by Korie-sensei is really are the “light” illuminating this work.

My editor Shouji-sama. My apologies for troubling you this time too with the scheduling. I’m really thankful for your precise advice and swift reaction. Being connected with Shouji-sama is one of my greatest lucks. Please take care of me from here on too.

And then to all the readers who picked up Unlimited Fafnir, my greatest thanks to all of you.

It’s all of you readers who illuminated the “future” of this series. Surely I wouldn’t be able to come this far without the support of everyone.

I’ll write the climax from here with everything I have!

Then, let’s meet again later.
