Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Episode 1 Reaction

Well, I am going to thoroughly enjoy this one if it goes the way I think. Absolutely love this first episode and my goodness, that animation!

Great reaction. The animation is glorious so is your eye and appreciation for it. Really hope you do kemono jihen. Lot of great anime this season but that's going to be one of the best And nobody has really gave it a chance.

Jack McCoy

Oh, I know. Sometimes they go by Sword-spell as well

Yeah i can asociate myself a bit with the Main Character.... I had some shitty Experience ( Thankfully not so extrem like certain other Characters) but at least i got a little Bit Bullied in the Hauptschule here in Germany, and somehow i also like to live peacefully in my Room here at Home. I started this when i was around 14/15 Years old, now im 28, almost 29 ^^ I rarely have Conversations with others outside of Family Members, i rarely leave the House and whatever else ^^

"Magic Swordsman" is a class in some RPGs, so it's entirely possible for Rudeus to multi-class "Mage" & "Swordsman," my guy! XD

It is, indeed, "so adorable" that the chest is larger than Toddler Rudy... Studio Bind made him super friggin' adorable as a child with his movements, especially when he first gets up & walks forward with his hands out forward to catch himself... or when he climbs the stairs one at a time... THEY MADE HIM SO CUTE

Smug Mama Zenith is such a mood, I love it... and yeah, you're right, Paul & Zenith are all over each other, but hey, what do you expect from a couple of mid-20ish y/o lovebirds who just had a kid, and they have tons of free time? XD

Now that you've seen the episode yourself, I can also mention something I talked about (in spoiler censored text) in the Discord... I feel like Studio Bind actively went out & studied facial expression, body movements, and especially toddler/baby movements/expressions then took that knowledge to translate it amazingly well into animation... though there could have been some "motion capture then animate over it" that could realistically make this level of quality happen.

So, while I know you enjoy the "34 y/o man" internal monologues, especially with how they contrast the "child Rudy" voice, apparently there are some folks who say his constant monologuing actually ruined this premiere for them... and I'm like, how?? Do y'all not understand that this is partly what LN/Manga readers want in adaptations, for monologues that explain thought processes and actions to not be cut out when turned into anime? It adds more depth to characters and it fits so well with Rudeus!

Mushoku Tensei is all about the life journey & growth of "Rudeus," our MC, as you even figured out how he wants to use this second life to pursue a different path and live it to the fullest, to not make the same mistakes (that you don't know about yet) that led him to being a "societal failure" & "jobless, reclusive bum"... and I am a real sucker for stories that have the whole trope of "zero to hero" character growth, except it's particularly well done here because he's not some "unrealistic teenager" from Earth, but someone that anyone could easily turn into (and some already are) in today's world... He's relatable, realistic, flawed, and all this culminates into someone who wants to better himself and is willing to work for it... He is, to me, one of the best written Isekai MCs I've ever seen in this genre, and to see him animated honestly makes me emotional as hell. Hahaha

Studio Bind, whose just entered the fray, is already making some damn great waves with Mushoku Tensei, and it should scare other studios/animation teams. It'll make people realize that asking for the team behind an anime adaptation to have passion for the project their working on, and to be serious about translating it properly from written to visual mediums... and I bet other studios are scared that they can't get away with just doing the bare minimum to produce an anime for profit, not as a love letter to the source material, because this series will be a prime example that can be held over their heads from now on... And I love it, because I'm honestly sick & tired of anime series that get "half-assed" because there's no passion, no love, no real motivation besides profit to bring a LN/Manga to life. Series that get the FMAB/Shaman King/Fruits Basket treatment are rare, and I hope Mushoku Tensei helps folks realize it's not "rude" or "inappropriate" to ask for proper adaptations!

One of the first Isekai was Zero no Tsukaima, that came out in the early 2000s (The Main Character was summoned from Japan in Zero no Tsukaima), but when Rifujin na Magonote released his Web Novel of Mushoku Tensei in 2012, it was the first one that introduced Truck-kun, and later published Storys that jumped on the Isekai Train used that and some other Stuff he introduced. I read some Stuff on a Wiki Side and its a very interesting Story, so after i finish Testament of Sister New Devil and Seirei Gensouki: Spirit Chronicles, i will buy the Paperback Versions of Mushoku Tensei (before other Storys like " The Hidden Dungeon only i can Enter" and so on)
