I had a feeling they weren't going to succeed, but the difference is Vivy is awake during the attack this time. From what we saw in Episode 1, she was still dormant when Osamu went to her then transferred his consciousness to the system hence creating the Matsumoto we knew. Very interesting stuff. Very curious to see how they will handle these final 3 episodes.
