Karna isn’t actually equal with Gilgamesh, Nasu said he’s one of the few who are capable of challenging Gil. The only one who is on par with Gil is Enkidu

Karna should have obliterated him in this fight...I mean Karna is pretty much one of the few that can fight par on par with Gilgamesh(confirmed by Nasu that a fight between them would be 50/50 ) but Sieg is one of the main characters soo..People were really mad with the Karna vs Sieg fight. Also you are right that this fight was really good this was basically pretty much considered the best episode of 2017. It created a huge buzz especially in Japan it got praised by popular animators, directors , authors everywhere and won awards for it. Nasu the author of Fate saw the pre-screening and he was left without words and grateful to the people that animated this episode. Some more knowledge behind this episode is that the staff was completely new , they hired a popular Taiwanese webgen animator as a director and he brought in all of his young talented webgen animator friends (from Japan, US, China, South Korea, Taiwan) to work on this particular episode so it was basically only freelancers and they created a "masterpiece" episode.
