2020-01-07 09:56:36 +0000 UTCOkay, so can we all just take a moment, after wincing from it, to appreciation how truly graphic and masterfully handled it was by WIT Studio? Cause sure, while it wasn't exactly shown directly, we were forced to sit through the man's agony as Askeladd cut off his fingers segment by segment, with full OSTs and VAs, no skipping ahead nor sugarcoating the cruelty of it... More series need this level of maturity when it comes to such topics, even outside of the seinen genre, when turned into anime form... less censorship's always welcome here, it makes the whole show so much better when the studio ain't worried so much about conforming to the current "must censor everything that could trigger folks" trend... Congrats, WIT Studio, as an anime only, I can say with passion that you're doing such an outstanding job! :D

2020-01-07 09:54:04 +0000 UTCMight be far too late to comment this, but it seems ya may have been a tad confused about the prince's actions & words during the opening segment, the scene where Askeladd presents Ragnar's corpse and offers his condolences for this "slain by the English" fallen warrior. Looks like you mistook Canute's words, facial expressions, and actions as, perhaps, something like "hearing the voice of God" or akin to it, but it's fair to say that Canute was experiencing grief, sadness, and shock all at once. Grief & Sadness for his loss, breaking the prince mentally, while Shock froze him, slowed the impact of the news... which led to partial denial, as commonplace when given news of a loved one's death. Twas' just my two cents! ^^
