Yep! Its what differentiates itself from other adult animation. Of course, there's a few other things too. I like the theory that Rick's current Morty isn't his original and Evil Morty is and whatever caused them to separate is part of his depression.

2019-11-22 13:25:39 +0000 UTCRick & Morty's always coming outta nowhere with these solemn, sorta depressing endings to their episodes about Rick... when I first started this show, I didn't like Rick and I wasn't the biggest fan of the series itself, but moments like this episode where it sorta "humanizes" this (incredibly) smart asshole by showing us the only thing he can't truly conquer with science is his own mental health... Can't remember if it was the last time we saw this deep into Rick's mental state, but when he broke up with the Hive Mind chick, we saw how depressed he can truly get... to the point of wanting to commit suicide... We don't get to see vulnerable Rick super often, nor his loving side much, but if Season 4 keeps bringing out these type of moments... as depressing as it will be, I'll love it tbh
