Halo (talk about desensitization)

So my construction really helped with desensitization (lol) which is important to do early on so that change and chaos is normal to the bird to adapt to.
Agree! Kids, birds, and cars perhaps.

Wow. I don't do well around loud noises like equipment and large trucks, I have to leave the area cuz I get stressed. Pathetic I know. My little guy Fred doesn't care as long as it's not a sudden loud bang or something like that. I'm glad to see Halo handling things better than I would. π

My CAG is completely fine with lawnmowers, chainsaws, welding machines,... you name it. But, put a new perch in his cage and it's a panic overload. π₯ I always had to introduce it to him very slowly. When I discovered power pause it saved both our time and nerves. Huuuge thanks for that, Birdtricks! β€

Were they drag racing in the construction equipment on your property, Jamie? Talk about desensitization! The birds didn't flinch.
My dear old cockatiel was like that with anything going on outside. He didn't even care when we got a new roof and it sounded like the sky was falling starting at dawn. He slept through the worst of it. The only time he ever got upset about something going on outside was a bad storm that ended up with tornadoes destroying houses in the subdivision next to ours. He panicked before it got bad. I understood when the warnings came on the TV and I heard the sirens. We hid in the basement with him until the storm passed. I should have had him in a travel cage but he was so upset. He was pressed up to my neck under my hair. If we had lived a street over his warning could have saved our lives. He was a wise little dude. We miss him. That's the good thing about having a desensitized bird. An alarm is for real!
