You are so welcome...no thanks needed - you all have earned the loyalty and respect of your fans! 🤗 I wonder if Capri knows she’s famous?! 🤔😂

Jessica Almquist

Aw thank you so much!

I totally resonate with your goal of being a better friend and just doing more social things with friends and family. I'm guilty of getting upset with people for not checking in on me, when I'm no better or I forget (ADHD-brain 😅). I'm an introvert and an only child, so I can often entertain myself for long periods of time. I had to learn that trick growing up. Such a great video and I laughed (very much) out loud when Dave mentioned picking up Capri and you said you had plenty of time when you had twenty minutes!! HAHA!! That kind of thing happens to me all the time! I either get lost in whatever task I'm doing and run out of time or think I can complete ALLLL the things in like ten minutes. I really appreciate how open and vulnerable you made yourself revealing all your goals. It takes a lot of guts and you are both so, so, so brave doing what you do everyday, especially when many of the times it's done publicly. I'm not talking about the entertainment and shows necessarily, but the honest, more intimate reactions and thoughts. I'm sad to say that I didn't write my goals this year, but you've motivated me to do it since it's definitely not too late. ☺️ Happy New Year! 💕

Jessica Almquist

I agree! Love the long video. You guys kept me company while I was doing mindless tasks and I feel like I learned a lot. Thanks for being vulnerable and sharing your goals!

Always wash your hands and wear a jacket when you go outside to smoke if you smoke, don’t bring that jacket in when the bird is in the area though.

I had a really busy week so I wasn't able to keep up with your uploads lately. Today, I sat down after lunch, opened the Patreon app and, I gotta tell ya, at first, an hour long video was a shocker! But, I loved every second of it. And I'm all for more hour long format videos! You guys are a well of information and humor and your new studio is great! Can't wait for the baby bird and trick training courses!

You would, Z lol! xo

BirdTricks

I go out to dinner by myself all the time lol!

Zaira Lupidi

Awww thanks girl. xoxo

I was a little nervous because I hadn't had a chance to share them with Dave first so I was feeling vulnerable lol but I really appreciated that question and it feels like I'm being held accountable for them when I speak them out loud which helps with follow-through.

BirdTricks

I think we fixed that in the videos to come but yes, we heard it too! Found air purifiers and heaters have to be completely shut off for filming. Hence the hoodies lol.

I'm with you on random hangouts/gifts instead of holidays :)

Great Q&A! Thank you for answering my foraging question. I've seen those metal toys with the screws. My pionus would probably love them, but only if I attached them to my clothing. I can't have nice things anymore. hahaha Lots of good information and the studio is awesome. The scale sounds like a great idea. I don't have trouble getting my bird on a scale. He'd probably agree to light himself on fire if I promised him a nut for doing it. Definitely the most food motivated creature I've ever met. Even though I have an easy time getting him on a scale doesn't mean I remember to put him on it as often as I should. Maybe for v2 or a "Plus" version of your scale perch, one that connected via bluetooth or wifi to send the bird's weight automatically to the cloud or a phone app would be extra cool. A "smart scale" perch like this could also alert you to weight changes. I'm not sure how the electronics in something like that would hold up to being in a bird cage. Seems that it shouldn't be that much harder on it than a smart watch on a person as long as it was sufficiently protected from beaks.

This might be my favorite Patreon video of all time. Jamie, after a while I lost count of all the things I 1000% relate to you on: from hating math and feeling obligated to give gifts w/out meaning, to getting so absorbed in work, to being the person most likely to get locked outside without pants... What I love most about this Q&A is that I feel like I just spent an hour hanging out with you guys. As always, you gave excellent bird-related advice and shared experience on important topics, but you also made me laugh, made me cry, and made me feel a part of the never-ending journey we're all on to become a better version of ourselves. Like you said, Patreon is a place full of all your fans—we're here because we love how genuine and real you guys are, vulnerabilities and all! In my book, that's what gives you such major credibility (that, and from a chemist's point-of-view, yours/Patty's assessment of phytic acid in the recent Tasty Tuesday video was spot on, for example ;-). Hearing more about yours and Dave's personal goals and struggles helps me personally but also as a bird owner to know I'm not alone in constantly working to balance bird care + work + life. In summary, this was amazing... more please!

Lauren Holder

That scale sounds amazing!!! I remember you mentioning it a while back as an idea, it’s so cool that it’s becoming a reality!!!

Jennifer Percopo

One of the best Q&As I've seen. The quality with the studio is through the roof and you were really funny. I hope the "new years resolution" question didn't make you uncomfortable. It was the best opportunity for a break between all the advice seeking questions and you handled it very well. 😉 Keep up the awesome work! ❤

FlyingCookie

That scale is BRILLIANT. I'm so excited to see that

Hannah Jade

Thank you! Thank you! I love when your suggestion is things I do but then of ideas that can really help!! BTW we raised a one kid family and totally relate but I wouldn't have it any other way!!

Wendy Cottingham

The video in the studio looks amazing but I am hearing a light static sound. Thank you for answering my question about diet and no weight! I’m so ready for the weight tracking perch!
