We would come to you without birds to fly in a scouted location ideal for your bird. 😊

What happens when the person lives in Canada :P ?

Nÿn

Yes, weekly calls plus in person for the outdoor portion.

Is it that bad if i leave the pellets all day ? I bought your cookbook and I have no problem feeding them the seasonal feeding system in the morning, they always will prefer eating this over pellets and are very engaged when i do a couple of small training sessions because of the high treat value. They've seen vets and i've been told that they're both perfectly healthy, good muscles, good weight. Thing is routine is very hard for me. Serving the veggies is easy because i do it in the morning when i make my coffee and get to work, they have a playstand in my office and i put their breakfast there and i don't hear them until they're done with emptying every bite. They really enjoy the target training, my Conure will fly from point A to B to reach it and my Grey sees the stick and she gets super excited about it, they will do almost anything for sunflower seeds or walnuts ! I'm just worried i might be making a mistake without seeing the consequences at the moment by leaving their pellets in.

I'm so interested in the free flight course ! Do you give them through zoom calls ?

Nÿn

I love using newspaper and towels. I love the fact I can just pick up my towels and thought them in the wash. I also use cute decals on my windows to help deter the freak out flights, those seem to help quite a bit. For my birds and the outside ones as well

Thank you for answering my question. I feel better knowing that I'm not alone. Nobody likes to film the mess in videos. I wouldn't either if I was posting something on the internet. I think I'll stick with my bed liners. They aren't fashionable or the most economical, but they are by far the most practical thing I've found. Also they are "sanitary" by design....hahaha I'm actually fortunate in the poo department with my pionus. He is not bad at all in that respect. Maybe it's the good diet. My cockatiel, 1/3 the size of my pionus, was definitely worse about poo. Every 10-15 minutes, he had to go. He was a fastidious eater though.

Ok thank you for your reply. I might just try my luck with a small bag and see what happens, wish me luck lol.

Tammy Tomasini

The first time I heard of someone doing it, they had it shipped to India I think and maybe Canada but I don't recall someone in Oz doing it so I am not sure!

BirdTricks

Hi, do you know if Kango can ship your pellets to Australia?? I’m dying to give it a whirl but don’t want them to be stopped at airport and be destroyed. Have you heard of any getting through at all ?? Thank you.

Tammy Tomasini

Hi Carolina! Each month I will make a post called "Ask me anything!" and that's where you can ask your question :)

BirdTricks

I've got two more suggestions for the question about mess: first, I totally hear you! We give the seasonal feeding system in our bird's cage and had two pieces of plexiglass cut with little hole punches in the corners so we can hang them outside the cage near their food bowl. This way, when they fling their food it all gets splattered on the plexiglass, which is super easy to clean rather than it all going on our walls and floor. We feed pellets on their tree in the kitchen so we can all eat dinner together, and like you said pellets and dust end up everywhere. For this, I highly recommend a Roomba! We can schedule regular cleanings or run the Roomba on-demand and it's a fabulous way to keep everyone fed and the house clean at the same time :) P.S. It took some time to desensitize the birds to our Roomba... they still don't love it, but now they don't freak out nearly as much as they did in the beginning.

This was great! I am a new Patreon. How do I submit a question for the next one?

Carolina Perez

Yeah, you could definitely try that and see. He might be into the stuff he came on that I think had sunflower seeds in it, I forget what else. It was a major blended food of treats but I didn't even really examine it or keep it lol. But yeah you could try that, and just make sure it doesn't sabotage his healthy diet but I don't think it will.

BirdTricks

Yes, wait for his next molt to see the results of your efforts for sure!

BirdTricks

Thank you so much for answering my question. Monty is actually eating the pellets so much better now! Leaving more powder and less pellets! My vet also recommended full-spectrum light and I have it within a foot of the cage and I haven’t noticed a difference in his feather condition. Most of his feathers are blackened I guess either from the stress of switching from hand feeding to regular feeding or the all seed diet he was weaned onto. I hope I see all those lovely green feathers come in after his next moly!

You guys are seriously the cutest fam ever! 🥰

Jacquelyn Yantis

You’ve said that light story before, so we stopped using it... and ur right, no difference! I’ve mentioned it in posts before, and man people are resistant! About the treats... after we spoke yesterday we tried another treat test before dinner (walnuts, cashews, almonds, sunflower in and out of shell, pecans, pine nuts, hard boiled egg) again, he seriously ate JUST the walnuts and spit out the rest, and didn’t even touch the egg 😱Do you think it would help to try the junk food day with him?
