Tasty Tuesday - The Kitchen Sink Diet

Debunking "chop" (the chop it and it's considered chop... kinda chop)!

Nutribird P15 are also the only available parrot pellets where I live, so I buy TOP's online. Unfortunately, ever since Brexit happened, Northern Parrots stopped shipping to Europe. I was literally going crazy for about a month searching for other options 🤯🤯🤯 In the end I found a shop in Poland that has TOP's and all natural parrot toys and they ship to Croatia. So my blood pressure is finally back to normal 😅

Who can I consult about possible need of supplements online? I need someone to help/teach me to analyze bloodwork and other tests properly 🤔 I wander if my SFS+Nutribird pellets are nutritious enough- since Nutribird are the least junky of pellets in my area - and they’re based off fruit waste and supplements.

Great information. When I was first trying the diet conversion, I had the cookbooks but I didn’t follow the recipes exactly. That was not setting myself up for success! I had to backtrack and use birdie bread for about 4 months but when I tried chop again I made the recipes exactly and finally had success!!

Love seeing how you guys have fun together! Good reminders in this episode.

Thanks Kim, it's been 15 years since my Eclectus was a baby and you tend to forget about the wasted food phase/s. Thanks for a timely reminder :) And thank you for your congratulations, the entire family is absolutely thrilled and we can't wait to have her home with us.❤️

I wanted to point out to that with babies it is important to have food available through out the day and with the SFS and any other fresh veggies you don't want it out past a few hours. So you will go through more than usual as babies are trying out these new foods, there may be days where your baby is going crazy for the SFS and other days they ignore that and dig into the pellets. Sometimes mixing the pellets into the SFS will work and the next day it will be a fail and you will be throwing some out. Adding in boiled eggs or cooked sweet potatoes are great tricks for the babies as well. Congrats on your new baby! ❤️

Yes, Ok. Thank you I will.

If it were me I’d add another batch because baby macaws tend to have big appetites!

Would love an episode of teas and herbs for birds!

I love that you did this and that you continue to drive this home. So important to get the diet right and look it's not that hard, seasonal vegetables, legumes and sprouts. Nuts are training treats and tiny pieces only. Jackpot with a few tiny pieces or one whole only. My little guy loves his seasonal feeding system - he's enjoying the Fall to Winter mix right now (Australia). Question: My baby Macaw (weaned) is arriving in a few days so do I add one full batch to my freezer or would you recommend a smaller amount? Love your work! The information that you put out is crucial to the happiness and safety of these glorious creatures. Thank you.

Whoa, did not know to treat coconut as a fruit! I have a bag of organic freeze dried that I was going to use as a treat/variety. I would love a topic video on “avian” teas or safe teas in general. I had chrysanthemum tea (made directly from only dried chrysanthemum flowers) and my parrotlet quite enjoyed it. The trick is waiting for it to be warm or be relatively full cup so she can drink it, haha. I like drinking herbal tea because I’m caffeine sensitive and enjoy sharing with my birds (within reason). I always check ingredients for unsafe ones. Even herbal teas can have added sweeteners, flavourings, chocolate bits, candies, etc.
