About Oh Flock this month...

I want to do a little back-splaining before we get into the episodes this month. And if you guys are into this series, it may go across many months because Lord knows this definitely won't be a transformation seen in just a month like a lot of the other Oh Flocks!
Loving the honesty of how difficult these decisions have been for you. I get emotional when thinking about training Cheeky too, and often wonder whether Cheeky even wants to fly. I'm sorry that your journey with Comet and flight has made you question yourself, but know that you're doing your best and you have his best interests at heart. I'm excited to see how we go from these shorter flights, to him being ready next flight trip. Keep your head high, and keep up the awesome work. You're an amazing parront, these pets are simply very complex.

Interesting. For me it’s so insightful to hear all these many little details to understand the big picture and how you all navigate it. Super excited to see how you try and hopefully we see Comet engage.

This is super interesting. I've heard so many people say that their bird has never shown interest in flying and they've been content to just say "my bird doesn't like it, no big deal". But I've always compared this to a child saying "i don't like walking, I'll just crawl instead. . . my whole life." It's not natural. What would this bird do in the wild? It doesn't mean I necessarily feel like something has to be done about it, I'm not sure what I would do personally if it were my own bird, but we definitely shouldn't call it "normal" for any living being to choose not to use their primary mode of transportation.
Look forward to seeing more of Comet. He is so endearing. :)

That's true, his lack of competitive spirit does seem to show a psychological component. He's a mystery :)

We’ve definitely considered something about his feathers and overall genes affecting things. The weird part is though that he can really bust it out when he needs to but he appears to just not have the desire most of time which I’ve thought has to do with a competitive environment because of our other two macaws. But it could definitely be a physical thing which would make a lot of sense.

You mentioned one of his feathers always growing in twisted. Do you think that could have something to do with it? Like maybe more of them are slightly like that and they just don't "feel" right? Either way I love Comet, he's such a character :)

I'm looking forward to this process with Comet. Even if it's a really long one. All of my training with Fred is long term. Nothing is fast or easy with him and I appreciate watching you work even if it is short sessions over a long period of time. It may inspired me to keep plugging along with Fred. Actually, I will anyway, since it's "our time" together. =0 ) Can't wait to see Comet again. I just love him.

I love watching flight training! I remember watching your yt conure video and comet wanted to fly. Curious if you thought he does better with smaller birds around?

That's the thing, this is part of why I'm here, to help birds find their wings and to understand in real time what it is that you and the bird went through to get to your and their end goal/s.
I think it's brilliant that you are able to show us, over many months, the transformation, from beginning, to formation of a concept through to end goal. We're behind you guys all the way, do what you do, however long it takes.
