BTT | Body Language | Lots of it...

In today's episode we show you a mix of body language we experience with the same bird.

BTT | Body Language | Lots of it...

I notice that Dave is often wearing a ball cap. Do you think that makes Comet and the others respond to him differently?

Rebecca Porter

Cool video! So many questions! How does Comet signal to Dave when he is open to interaction? Is he more subtle about it then with Jamie? Kind of like a dog seeing their favourite person vs someone they think is just OK? Or is it a matter of offering and waiting to see Comet's response? I'm guessing if Dave is training him he has to keep sessions shorter then when Jamie does? Does his treat value need to be higher? Does Comet's response to the two of you change based on which of the other birds are around?

When she’s ready, yes.

This was sooooo helpful to see. Body language is sometimes so subtle with parrots that when you get bit it's often a reaction of "why did I get bitten?" Instead of "I know exactly why I got bit." Will you ever plan to try and work on his aggression with Capri? That would be very interesting to see.

Kristen

I think this is a magic trick & in fact it’s two different birds. 😂 Seriously, I’ve never seen that other side to comet cos think have mostly seen him with JL only. V interesting!

Thank you for the body language video it's super helpful I can see how fast Comet changes and U know this is going to help me re-examine my 5 so I can know more about them. THANK YOU so much Jamie and Dave.

Dawn Patterson

Seeing Comet all poofed up vs slick was so fascinating! I thought the fluff came from them being Camelots, how cross breeding can create offspring with unexpected traits. Similar to how English budgies are much fluffier. But it was all deception! Comet is simply just the fluffiest for Jamie!

Great video. The changing to black and white was annoying, though. Was there a point to it? Also, a video on how to get Comet back to the 60/40 ratio would be cool. He looks like 90/10 here...

These are great videos. I need to show them to my husband because he's not so great at reading our Pionus. I have finally taught him to look for the feathers standing up on the back of his head. I call it the "square head" because his whole head shape changes from rounded to blocky square. (Anyone who watched Deadwood will laugh at "square head"). Some other clues are a lot more subtle, like Comet.

I agree this series is so valuable. I like to watch the vids with my kids so we can all learn to read our birds.
