Tasty Tuesday Topic Suggestions Wanted!

Hey guys - comment below with your suggestions for topics for Tasty Tuesdays! Please don't air on the side of medical based information as those sorts of topics are truly for your veterinarian. Thanks!!

Comments

We will be making this a YouTube video hopefully released in December (still need to film and lay it out) but really love this topic.

BirdTricks

Yes, we have some fun Halloween themed ones in our Healthy Holidays cookbook!

BirdTricks

We have training in the BirdTricks Tuesday series so will likely keep this series food related. :)

Maybe a few baby (newly weaned) bird recipes? It would be nice to have more than “what was the breeder using” and “mashed sweet potato” 🤪 Having had quite a few babies over the years, I’m sure you have a couple favorite concoctions that work best or help in that transition to fresh foods? Thanks.

I checked it out and it doesn’t seem to be an option for me, I also checked for Harrison’s as well… honestly I am willing to do a lot to figure out a way to make him the perfect blend just something to supplement a good pellet instead of this sugary Nutribird at this point. 🤷🏻‍♂️

What to do if you have to leave town for a couple of days and you don't have a bird sitter. We are experiencing this as my daughter is getting married and I need to figure out what to do with my little Beans!

Mandy Kisiel

Not sure where you're based but there are a couple of videos where Jamie recommended https://topsparrotfood.com/ for people who are overseas. I'm based out of France but I'm able to order them from Holland with no issues.

Tatiana Pereira

YES! I second this exact topic. I have 3 cockatiels and I struggle with knowing whether to implement (or not) the set breakfast and dinner times or whether to make available pellets and/or seed mix throughout the day for these little guys.

Claudia E Barba

i agree with one of the comments on sprouting! i can never successfully sprout. it fails half-way. what is your method? and can you talk about the steps? thank you for all you do!

Katrina dela Victoria

Small birds that eat the blueberry or cockatiel seed mix. Should I continue giving them this and if so how to do a division of seed mix/pellets/sfs. I know there is a video on how to determine how much my bird should be eating but how about how to make sure one type of food is not totally sabotaging another type that's just as necessary.

I’d love for you to talk about how you can make frozen treats for your parrot. My Quaker lives frozen ice to break it apart. He also loves spicy things. Though I’m told he can not distinguish heat. I’d would think to make special ice cubes or popsicles that are safe. If that is safe?

Dena Perry

I’d love to hear what you did step by step on diet conversation on a specific bird. I know for Sunny you used corn but how did you get him off corn and what was the next step?

Kelsey Gillespie

I feel like you may have done this a while ago, but what about a nutrition myths or worst advice debunked video?

Amy R

I sometimes add a pinch of whole wheat couscous to the freeze dried. It rehydrates with soaking alone and is so tiny that it gets into every bite to make it "pasta".

Holden Kendrick

I'd love a substitution graph. It's hard to get ingredients these days. I could not find rye for example. Three stores and nothing. What could I have used instead? Also maybe tasty Tuesday could become training Tuesday?

Melonie

Videos of your birds foraging! 😊

Gina Burlinson

I'm interested in hearing how you came across the idea for cold pressed pellets and the background for developing the BirdTricks pellets. I like hearing you talk about some small variations you make between batches of SFS (like adding herbs) to keep it interesting. And could you do a video on some of the health benefits of offering herbs or spices? One of the things that would help (if you are still editing the cook book) is having the ingredients listed by weight. Sometimes there is quite a bit of variation in the size of vegetables. Does that mess with how balanced the diet is?

Nyree Williams

What can you do when high quality pellets aren’t available? Can a high quality ingredient home made birdie bread can be a good supplement? Any exact recipes or other creative ideas for that? I still feed my bird Nutribird along with SFS and I am very enthusiastic about finding a solution. Since you can’t really ship food across seas.

Guy Goldstein K

What is Patty's background on nutrition? Where does she get her information from?

Melanie Jones

I'd like to see one that follows your sprouting method from start to finish.

Is it ok to mix the seasonal feeding into the "picky eater" birdy bread recipe I got from Kim? I have been doing this for my rescue 4 yr old Catalina Macaw over the last couple of months, and I have increased the amount of the SFS I put in each batch of bread. So far this is the only way I can get him to eat the seasonal feeding system. I have been mixing some of the fresh SFS with the bread I crumble up in his dish, and am trying to slowly increase the amount of fresh a tiny bit at a time, because if I add too much too fast, he will refuse to eat any of it! Also from Kim's advice, I am slowly decreasing the amount of nuts I put in it so he doesn't notice. At least I have him completely off the seeds diet I received him with! Thank goodness! He's already looking MUCH healthier! Just want to make sure I can, or should, stay this course with him?! =)

Mary Owens

Natural behaviors vs captive behaviors when it comes to eating/foraging and how we can better enhance those natural behaviors. (Like cockatoos foraging on the ground..toucans plucking things from trees)

Landon Perdue

Is it Ok to feed 1/2 day pellets 1/2 day fresh chop at the same time but separate bowls twice a day? My little guy likes to go back and forth. In the end it all gets eaten.

Holden Kendrick

Maybe something about sharing bowls with multiple birds/tips for helping birds in the same cage keep to their own bowl or even when they are out in a tree? Tis the season for pie and cookies too!

Marissa Axline

Something I think you said recently was how the freeze dried doesn't have something. Was it pasta/grain? And someone added that to it. So maybe some easy add-ons to make the freeze dried extra special or yummy/acceptable but yet keep it within proper ratios.

Janene Gscuba

How did you and Patty meet?

Ali Stergas
