The Making of the Cookbook!

Today's Tasty Tuesday is all about what it took to create the cookbook and answering some fun questions along the way!

The Making of the Cookbook!

What I took away from this is that you weren't afraid to experiment to find the healthy things a variety of birds (yours and Patty's) would eat and enjoy, while also providing good, well-balanced nutrition, and I think that's something a lot of people are hesitant, even afraid, to do. My husband and I both like to cook, and we include our GCC in all the prep. She’s got her perch on the kitchen island, and she is always right in the middle of all the different veggies (and sometimes fruit). We discover things she seems to really like (most everything!), and things she has no interest in whatsoever (she is not a fan of parsley). I’ve discovered she doesn’t really like the seasonal feeding system after it’s been frozen or if it’s wet, nor will she eat the same thing after more than a few days, so I make it fresh every 3 or 4 days in a small food processor, which only takes me about 15 minutes. I generally don’t cook the grains or pasta (there are a few exceptions), as they will soak up any liquid overnight; and I only need to change out a few things for different flavors, like if there was broccoli in the last batch, I’ll use brussel sprouts, or if there were carrots, I’ll use sweet potato or squash. She eats it so much better now than she did before, and she is maintaining a much better weight!

Dave’s Magic Scrambled Eggs, Caterpillars and the Radish Easter Baskets. You guys are awesome together. You always seem to have the best time no matter what you’re doing. 😊

I love everything about this video I laughed so hard watching! My birds favorite recipe is the caterpillars and stuffed bell peppers I just didn’t cook the peppers and I actually used the peppers to get my parrots to eat the seasonal feeding system! Thank you for all the work you guys put into those books they are amazing!

That was so much fun to watch. Thanks for the smiles. I actually have the old version in hard copy. I did update the digital version though. 🙂🙃

The potato broccoli casserole is the #1 way I've found to transition to pellets or to a better pellet. The casserole is so much like people food. No bird can resist it. The taste of the pellets is not hidden in it which is good for getting them to enjoy that flavor. Yes, there is a bit of cheese but it's strong flavor parmesan. You only need a tiny amount to make it taste cheesy
