I also love the relationship between Jamie and Dave! It’s also refreshing to know that people with all of your experience can struggle with their birds!

I thought maybe I could train a behavior that would associate something other than hormonal response, so I started training on filing her nails (hers get long despite having the perches for that), and it seems to be helping.
