Hormone Checklist!!

We have created a new video addition to our HORMONES course, the HORMONE CHECKLIST! It's something we have been teaching at masterclasses, something we go over on one on one consultations, and now we are bringing it to our courses to help bring more awareness surrounding parrot hormones.

I hope this resonates with you guys and you enjoy this content.

It is now automatically included in our Hormones Course, and comes with a download PDF of it as well!

We've also added another video to our hormones course, which is our Options for 12 Hours of Sleep. Many people struggle giving this to their birds so we talk about it in detail in this video. This one is also automatically added to those who have bought our Hormones Course as well. We truly hope they shed more light on the importance of not triggering hormones in our pet parrots.

What about mirrors?

We don’t have newspaper on the bottom but we do have paper cage liners that we change every night. Avi use to shred the liner and papaya used to go underneath the liner but both of them have stopped since we only put one single sheet on the bottom. Does this still count as a hormone activator? From previous information we got from you I have taken out the cozy hut, plastic toys, especially the balls that roll around on the bottom of the cage & cloth toys. We have switched them over to the healthy diet that you recommend however I do have a question about Sleep. They have their own bedroom that we black out the window and they sleep in separate cages side-by-side but more times than not they are sleeping more than 12 hours. Is this bad for them? Another problem is that we are going to have a Bird sitter to come in while Dan and I go away for a week. Since they are both so hard to get in their cages I am concerned about having them fly up to their night gauge and back down to their day cage so I was considering using a cage cover in their day cage and just leaving them there while we are gone and changing the sheet on the bottom and feeding them. Is this like a great big oh no don’t do it?

Omg, I just added a toy with bells. Papa’s favorite toy is running across the bottom of thee cage pushing plastic balls that have bells inside of it. I just wrote a question to Birdtricks staff asking for help because my already unfriendly GCC is now attacking my face. She is actually drawing blood.. tomorrow I’m going to undo everything I did to to you make it comfy.

The corner thing, my umbrella cockatoo loves the corners and becomes a little terrorist when allowed into them. His favorite is the corner where we feed the cats, and I wasn't able to get the paper towel (I put them under the cat bowls) picked up fast enough, and Angelo converted straight into a land shark. It is soooo not fun. Since then, we've been trying to keep him off the floor, and getting him out more frequently for shorter intervals. I'm concerned about his activity level and getting enough exercise to help him burn off some of that energy. Diet conversion is going very well, he was fully converted to the seasonal feeding system by day 6! Now working on pellets by way of birdie bread. Something tells me a consultation should be in my near future.

Great info as always. I have your courses but it is great to see the supplemental info you put out and presented in different formats. I learn something everytime, which can only help my birds.

I definitely agree and recognise the “sneaking away behind her cage whilst giving me side eye” 🙄 probably wouldn’t have recognised it if it hadn’t been spoken about by you guys!
