Yay!

BirdTricks

This was the break through wowie.

Oh thank you so much great advice gonna take notes and try this out. The idea of offering the SFS before giving the pellets makes sense.

Guy Goldstein K

I would probably up the SFS amounts and weight track to see if there's any lower weight doing that and not offering the pellets. If there is a weight change then I would count out the pellets and start offering less of them and more of the SFS so he's too full to want pellets. You could also consider using the pellets as treats instead of daily meals. But if he eats the SFS really well I would think he wouldn't miss the pellets. And yes you can always sign up for a consult and email us!

BirdTricks

Aw this is awesome.

BirdTricks

Hey Madi, I have a weight log (free download) on my website I actually use if you want to give that a try!

BirdTricks

This is great and I can't wait to hear about your progress. You can only go up from here!

BirdTricks

Thanks Mel!

BirdTricks

Thanks, Holden!

BirdTricks

Yeah I definitely meant the recipe haha, I wonder how to fix that... great tip on the app mention! Thank you!

Watched this twice already, took notes and everything, my African Grey’s daily diet is Nutribird Pellets (Unfortunately organic freeze dried Pellets are not available in my location and I can’t ship them to me, I don’t like the ingredients in this Nutribird pellets an that’s why I was experimenting with the dry mix) and homemade Dry mix (5% contains grain, freeze dried veggies and edible herbs similar to the ingredients of quality cold pressed pellet, but he doesn’t really eats dry veggie stuff) in the mornings, my own recipe of chop similar to the SFS at the after noon which he eats happily, and SFS which he eats in the evenings. I wonder if Giving him the dry mix and pellets is unneeded - after watching this it kinda seems like a filler, I think I’d like him to be on chop for the morning and evening - removing the “morning filler meal”, how should I reduce the pellets and dry mix? What should I look foron the gran scale in this transition? I wonder if I Should be able to do this myself and figure up a plan myself, or rather do it with your help, can I already contact your team if I need help? Do you do consults via email (to deal with time zones and that)?

I thought this video was amazing. I loved all the different examples. Everyone's journey is different. When you said it took you 2 years with Blueberry, I didn't feel so bad about my cockatiel taking 6 months. You are so right about starting diet conversion on day one. As I mentioned it took my cockatiel 6 months to do a complete diet conversion and he was still a baby when I started. However, I found BirdTricks 3 months after I got him so he was on a crappy diet for those first 3 months. Fast forward to 2 and a half years later when I got my green cheek conure. Definitely had way more confidence with this one and started diet conversation on day one. It took only 2 weeks to fully diet convert her. It made training so much easier because she was scared of life and now I have a confident bird.

Love it Jamie!!! One thought I had was if you could show how you setup tracking their weight? How you log it in your notebook would be helpful, mine always gets so messy and hard to read any info!

Watched it once, and will watch it again -- this time to take notes! I just picked up a foster bird (Tucuman amazon) on Monday that I am trying to diet convert. He/she is somewhat aggressive, and the previous owners said they did not "believe in feeding pellets" because "no bird wants to eat pellets, they are gross". Instead, they fed him a commercial cockatiel seed mix, but because he rarely ate much of that, they gave him mostly millet. Anyway, we are in a very bad diet place, so the only way to go is up! I am going to document every step with this bird, so its new owners will be able to continue the process and see the positive results. I was glad to see the "real bird" examples, as it gives a glimpse into the small differences in the conversion process that and the tools we can use to keep progressing to the end goal.

Love it

Oh my I am excited gonna watch this this weekend

Good points

Guy Goldstein K

I liked that you listed so many methods and outcomes. Talking about the amount of time it took overall with each bird would be good. Also as much info as possible about failures and restarts. Let people really understand that it's probably going to be a long process and there will probably be some failure before there is success. You did speak to this but it probably can't be stressed enough since people so often give up too soon. Overall it is very good. The production value is great and there is a ton of information crammed into an easily digestible time period

This is so good! Even more slick and professional than older courses. This is a great resource for people! Two tiny suggestions: 1. Mention the Birdtricks app to track weight. 2. You say the Blueberry seed mix is free on the website. I'm pretty sure you mean the recipe, not the mix itself.
