Doing this from the road again!

Q&A this month!!

Awesome I am surprised that my intuition was really close yay

Guy Goldstein K

1/4 tsp of ground flax per 1 tbsp of sfs

BirdTricks

ooooh another Ground Flaxseed question, how much should go in one SFS batch?

Guy Goldstein K

All classes have been announced for the June 2023 timeframe and I don’t think Pittsburg was on the list… but you can always write Heather via heather@birdtricks.com for masterclass inquiries 😊

BirdTricks

Are you going to be doing any master and Pittsburgh?

Connie Muttart

Got it, thanks!

Guy Goldstein K

Lol we all need our security blankets 🤣🤣

Li

Too funny! And yeah, baby birds can take longer to understand treats!

BirdTricks

Should be all good now, sorry about that!

BirdTricks

Yes it is, lol, his elbow really hurts when traveling for as long as we do so he always pads it with something and he's kinda obsessed with bringing his own pillow places... Honestly I think it's one of those situations where since it ended so well it's like it's making her better at coming down faster. Sometimes their hesitancy is less of a training issue and more of a desensitization/overwhelm issue (in a lot of cases, anyway) and also just from flying they're usually tired so not likely to recall immediately.

BirdTricks

I just add it in, it won't mess with your grain ratios and makes the overall texture and taste nicer, especially when you don't strain it like me. But yes, like you said, it gives an overall nuttier flavor to the batch and absorbs all the extra moisture too leaving a better texture.

BirdTricks

Thank you for answering my question. She seemed content in the tree the last time so I didn’t think she would come down. Lol is that a big pillow under Dave’s arm?

Li

When adding ground flax to to a batch of SFS, do you use less grain to keep the proportions right or do you just add them in? I don’t have instagram so I haven’t seen your short videos about this. I have actually used ground flax as a diet conversion tool, it also make the SFS a bit sticky and it coats everything so the chop tastes yummy, I think I believe that fresh food can be feed moist and the moisture can be beneficial and hydrating, but I know some birds prefer less soggy textures in their chop.

This is great! I am new. I am hand raising my baby Quaker. Got pip when she was 4 weeks. She is now almost 3 months, I have tried to figure out favorite seed for training but she is not very interested. Also, my parakeets are hearing Blueberry and shouting back at her 😂

Angie Meyers

Oo thank you again! I'll try that too!

Terri Malen

Another thought is backing up to using luring as well to get the initial breakthrough! 💛

BirdTricks

Thank you guys so much! You make having birds such a treat and worthwhile! Also, thank you so much for answering both of my questions about trying to get her( Emma my cockatiel) to target train better! I'm definitely going to add the jackpot reward plus table, countertop and book method. I've tried breaking down the steps to go down the cage sides, maybe I should make them even more broken down. I will definitely ask the staff about the space heaters and also when the company returns my inquiry on their spaces I will notify the staff. That way they will have that information also.

Terri Malen

Hi guys, sorry about that! Fixed it! It should play now :)
