New editing style - more feedback welcome!

Hey patrons!

Here is another video with the new editing style of adding voiceovers. Let me know your thoughts. I thought it would be good to see two different videos with the style related so you could see the variations. This one was of an in home consult we did for a single day, while the other was a masterclass so different settings for sure.

Looking forward to your feedback!

PS - These types of videos aren't debuting on the YouTube channel until the very end of March 2023 based on my current posting schedule.

I really like the voiceover style! It is super helpful! When I watch the master class videos, I often do a comparison/contrast between the client (human) action and the BT training course materials I have studied. One thing I have learned from Masterclass videos, is that subconscious and impulse human behavior can impact what is (and is not) being communicated to the bird. Sometimes the bird is willing, but is confused by their human. A voiceover explanation definitely helps to bring more clarity to the interactions!

Love, love, love! Can’t wait to see their masterclass footage! 😉

LOVE the voice overs, especially helpful to not have to read something while also trying to watch the thing the reading part is referring to.

Love this new style of editing. The extra footage of your birds, the information on how to avoid the unwanted behaviors and how to set yourself up for success, and the commentary to supplement what is going on in the video is VERY helpful to those of us "playing along at home" with our own struggles. For example, the Ritz cracker is something my budgie, Simon, has just discovered. He knows where we keep them, what the box looks like and even what the wrapper sounds like. Simon attacks Ritz crackers. I've been a bit worried about him having them. He's only allowed a little bit every once in a great while (he actually eats very little of it - it's more like a wrestling match for him). I feel a little better knowing that, although its not ideal, it can be a useful tool. At the moment it is helping to teach him that he can eat and socialize with us at meal times. We're working on diet conversion and he's picking up so many new foods now that he eats with us. I'm looking forward to seeing more of this style of video and continuing to learn from you both.

The b-roll = 🤩

I agree with all comments. The voice over is great to make sure that the watchers are also “getting”it and the demos with your birds really helped emphasize the point. Also using different birds helps. The personality of each species and even between birds would also be great to demonstrate one after the other or side by side.

The voice over is super helpful. Again, it gives you the chance to share your expertise and insight. I HATE the beep noise when you change vid rolls. I listen with headphones and it is loud and horrible. Consider finding a lower pitched noise that's a bit less obnoxious. I like the vid shifts. Just not the noise.

I really like the voice over ....

I really liked both styles. I think this is what was missing from your home consult and Masterclass videos. The voiceover definitely adds to the clarity and message of the videos. I liked that you also included the bird owner's own analysis at the end. I imagine sometimes people don't ever get it but we all learn a lot from watching mistakes.

Both of the new videos are great! Love this new style

I really loved the examples you showed with your own birds it shows what your trying to correct.

Jamie that was wonderful! Keep going! This video edit style crystal clear and concise, easy to understand and very informative. Good job!

I liked this one as well, although I think the first one benefits more from the voiceover than this one. But it is really hard to grasp why I feel this way. The situation with these two spins around a trained misbehavior, treat value, pushing too far, training frustration, permission based training and setting up the environment for success - you know like ... a lot of the basics. And it is clear how you guys went through with this home consultation and tried to troubleshoot what you found. what I would have added, maybe in the end, is a short summary how to not end up in that spot in the first place. Like "remember, that you'll have the most success if training is fun for you and your bird and if you find your bird is getting frustrated, take a step back look at all the things, sleep, diet, treat value, expectations, the environment, consistent handling and reassess what you might have to change to get a good starting point to work on from" like a quick lessions learned.

I also really liked how you showed the example with your own birds. I really think a lot of people will take away so much from seeing this. It also showed how much Skittles understood what he was asking after getting a treat he was willing to work for which I'm sure will change when the diet is correct.

Loved this, really liked how you showed an example with your own birds as well.

Loving the VoiceOver on both videos. It’s actually really helpful for a few reasons. Firstly, my eyesight isn’t so great, so sometimes I miss some of the body language, so if it’s pointed out, I can simply go back and look for it. Sometimes I also don’t bother looking at the screen, I just listen, so when you pointed out the fact that there were clips of you messing up on purpose with your own Birds, I actually went back and watched it. I wouldn’t have noticed if it weren’t for the VoiceOver. And finally, when text comes up on the screen, sometimes I’ve zoomed in on the bird, so I don’t always see it, or if I do see it, I have to pause the video and zoom in in order to read it. I think even for people who can easily see the text, if you’re concentrating too much on the bird, it’s probably really easy to miss the text.

I like this style too. The extra things you can say in a voice over explains more than just watching/ listening to what's being said on the original. Like ritz isn't the best treat but it worked better than other options & got the job done. Well, you put it better :)

Janene Gscuba

I really like this because it allows new bird owners to look at what someone else is doing “wrong” vs the best way to be successful with permission based training
