Here is the replay of our Zoom live chat this month!

Glad I'm not the only one to set weird times on alarms. 🥰

PsyFi40

I think it would be valuable to show the fail masterclasses. I learned a lot being present to see a less productive session in the Masterclass I attended. I got to see the body language from a super angry macaw. It's funny that since then I've seen SO many macaws in videos with the same body language and their clueless owners thinking they are doing a cute dance. Although it's something my Hahn's can't unsee. He took one look at her furious dance and took off..."Nope! I'm out of here!" Oscar and I will try to film a recall training followup video. No promises because he thinks cameras will steal his soul. Maybe you can add your logo to the washers on the perches?

I set my alarms to 1 minute after too. I have a less rebellious reason though. There is a bug for my model phone that causes notifications to turn off alarms that are set to fire at the same time. Notifications come in on the hour. The minute delay saves the alarm.

This was so awesome to listen to while I worked today. It made my day go by faster! I'm excited to see your perch wall! I will have a bird room in 19 days and I'm so excited to do things like that! I just bought the rope today to make my own cargo net to hang.

I think now that people are quite used to using programs like zoom, people might be a bit more willing than they once were. It doesn’t even have to be footage directly of them working with the bird, maybe just you asking them a few questions on how things are going. You could also make it a bonus thing. Sign up to one of our master classes and get a free online consult. That way, you’re likely to appeal to people who want that follow-up support. and it means that if people don’t get so much out of the masterclass, they might be able to get more out of the consult, especially if you have it a set period of time later. So, for example, people go to the masterclass, and then have the online meeting six weeks later. If people don’t like the idea of it being public, you could offer to make the follow-up for patrons only, so it wasn’t public public if that makes sense.

We do have an email that goes out asking attendees for follow up footage but rarely get anything out of people. I recently got an update from a project bird owner who wanted me to have the update but didn't want to be put publicly out there for the world so it can be pretty intimidating for people I think to be on camera or especially to film themselves and hand it over. But I will try to get those follow ups, I think it makes a big difference too.

We were doing the same thing but once our lighting all kinda died out or needed to be replaced we just didn't replace it.

BirdTricks

Haha love it, keep sending and I will try to dramatize any future ones so they look REALLY REALLY bad, lol jk! (like I have to actually do that...)

I like the idea of having a follow-up call, tagged onto the end of a video of a masterclass, especially if Sarah masterclass didn’t work very well. Even if it did go well, including a bit of follow-up might be really handy for people. As someone mentioned, sometimes you can get over one problem in a masterclass, and end up with a totally different one. Like, if you’re the enrichment for the bird, perhaps working on that bird playing with toys might be something that could be included in the follow up.

Regarding full spectrum lighting - Roman has it but our reading has led us to believe it’s not really effective after the first 6 months. But we use it cause we have it.

I miss the lives too but now that I am on the replay train, it will be good.

Yay zoom lives! My favorite, I always miss the lives but enjoy it anyway, many times other people are having the same issues that I do, and than I feel very lucky :)

So sad I missed it! I love the live zooms! My boyfriends step mom said she wants to get a ring neck and I’m sending her all the master class videos where the ring necks just seem impossible to work with. Definitely a very difficult species. She has a green cheek conure and I’ve been basically begging her to watch your videos! I know they’ve been a life saver for me 😅
