NEW PRODUCT ALERT! PRE-ORDER YOURS TODAY!

Hello Patrons!! It's the first new product of the year and I'm so excited to share this with you!

Last year we sent out an email to everyone on our email list asking "What product do you wish we sold that we currently don't sell?"....we NEVER expected the #1 request to be... Perches!

As we began digging in to what perching options are available, as well as finding out some dangers about current perching options (I'll explain in more detail below), we decided that we NEEDED to be offering high quality, natural perches to our customers, and so we set to work doing so.

After many months of planning, I'm so happy to be able to introduce you all to our all natural, manzanita hard wood perches! Please be sure to check out the description about all the sizing options we have available for you!

There were 2 things that really stood out as being reasons that we needed to offer this product...

1) Many perches online don't educate owners about proper perching and, in fact, make it seem like the perching that comes with the cages purchased in stores is the only perching needed. Birds need a variety of perching options to keep their feet and bodies healthy, and they also need that perching to get changed up every once in a while to keep things fresh. Having the same size perches, or having the same perches in a bird's cage for years on end without being rotated around, can lead to foot sores and other health problems. Since most of our parrots are on their feet almost 24/7, keeping your bird's feet healthy is paramount to not only their physical health, but their mental health as well.

2) Not too long after we had decided we were going to look deeper into offering perches in our store, one of our free flight students contacted us about the declining health of one of her birds. Sadly, all has not been resolved, but one of the things they found while testing was that the bird had been chewing on one of her concrete perches inside of her cage, and when the perch was tested, it came back positive for lead. This had us FLOORED and, while more testing needs to be done in the avian community, this was enough for us to say no to concrete perches and the dangers they present. Here is a short video of her bird, Rose, that she has kindly given us permission to share. It may be hard to watch for some viewers, but it is important to know the signs and to be aware of what lead poisoning can look like in our flocks.

Armed with this information, we set out to find and provide the best perches we could, and that's when we landed on these - our all-natural, manzanita, sand blasted perches!

Here are some great features about our perches...

1) Other than tiny (which only comes in split), our perches have 2 options to each size - single or split. Single perches are what we're used to seeing in a perch - a single piece of wood. However, the split perches are what you see in the image above - one perch, but we've kept the natural branch split, making one perch become two! The split branches are a personal favorite of mine because they allow birds to move and hop around more, encouraging more exercise and also adding more variety in sizing. Don't get me wrong, the singles are great as well and I use them in conjunction with the split options, but the split option is just really cool.

2) Any metal your birds could get their beaks on (the washers and wing nut) are stainless steel, meaning your birds are safe if they decide to get a little mouthy with the hardware. However, we do not encourage chewing on metal at any time, so if your bird is prone to doing this, having some natural toys near the area to distract them can be a great way to keep them safe no matter what.

3) While many manzanita perches come with the bark still attached (which is perfectly acceptable to have!), we decided we would like to make ours sandblasted. The reason for this is because, while the bark can be fun for birds to get their beaks into, it can get a little slippery at times and cause some problems for parrots with medical issues, new parrots learning to perch for the first time, or parrots who are clipped and unsure of their footing. The sandblasted perches have a really nice texture to them where it's grippy enough that it provides a stable environment for our birds without being so textured that it can rub the bottoms of their feet raw like a sandy perch would. Also, as a bonus, I totally love how the sandblasted perches look! So pretty! πŸ˜

The public launch for these perches is going to be February 17th, so from today until February 16th at 9:00pm PST, you'll be able to purchase the perches ahead of everyone else using the code below (as always, this code cannot be combined with subscriptions or any other discounts). On top of being able to order early this week, this code will also give you 10% off the price they'll be at launch - woohoo!

However, unlike other pre-launches we have done, purchasing them early will be a PRE-ORDER, meaning they will not get shipped until we go live with them. We are, unfortunately, waiting on our tags to come in for them, so we figured this was the best option to still allow you first dibs on the stock we have while also getting a nice discount on them as well.

You can order your perches here

The code to use at checkout is: MANZANITA

I just love these perches so much and hope you all do as well!! If you have any questions or are having issues at checkout, please comment below or contact my team at info@birdtricks.com. I can't wait to see all the pictures of your flocks enjoying their new natural perching!

This is my first time ordering physical items from your site, I am in a deep need for proper and safe perches- there are none available in my region, I am excited to try them out.

Thank you for this great information! I just ordered 2! Most of our perches are natural perches but I do have 1 that my daughter found at a pet shop that might be of questionable material that I'm now going to replace thanks to this information!! πŸ™‚
