This is AWESOME good on you! I don’t know that there are any sanctuaries for birds in my area, I would love to be able to foster some birds in the future when I grow up and have my own place, this is very inspiring! You changed lives for 400 parrots, WOW!

Hi I followed this course in 2019 evrything you guys tell is so reconisible. (I got the feeling I was a wannabee too) I felt so small the first day. I was also was verry intimidated by the proffesional zoo trainers. The technical and sientific words as English is not my native language. I have been working with parrots for about 30 years and run a parrot sanctuary with over 400 parrots. By the time those 5 amazing days where done. I couldnt wait to get home and teach our volunteers how to work with our birds. We run a parrot sanctuary with over 400 parrots. I loved the way they work and think at NEI they make you feel like one of their team-members. My favorite quote was Its not what you are doing wrong … Its how you can do it better. But one thing I do agree with you guys. Its only when you have followed a course at NEI you are excepted in the world of proffesionals. Cant wait for you story how the congres of iaate was.

Oh wow I thought I heard PINE nuts, it made sense in my head since I thought the were a good treat size that can be broken to few tiny pieces.

Great observation! Here is the deal on that: https://birdtricksstore.com/blogs/birdtricks-blog/peanuts-and-aflatoxins?gclid=Cj0KCQiAgOefBhDgARIsAMhqXA5e6CbCfJHK1szo_fcW8qUduKawkNr0KrjgwMdROuSVnrENGo1_P60aAozyEALw_wcB Because there are so many other options we use other treats to just avoid the issue altogether for our birds.

I would love it as long as you guys are comfortable sharing this way. I might suggest keeping it to the higher tiers though.

So I noticed that when you were talking about the training sessions at NEI, you mentioned that you were given peanuts to use for training rewards, and I wondered if you had any insight on that? From everything I've read, peanuts are a big no-no, but maybe this isn't true?

If the story telling is something more people would want to hear about then yes, we would definitely be open to sharing more!

This was so wonderful! Thank you for taking us through your journey by storytelling! Would you be interested in keeping the storytelling going on patreon in the future? with Dave about special experiences from your life and career? About the times you learned something new or were surprised by something that was mind opening for you as trainers? This is so lovely and I enjoyed it so much, I would love more of this kind of stuff in case you’re interested! πŸ’–πŸ™πŸ»πŸ§‘
