When we were designing our stand that we launched last year, we really wanted to focus not only on creating a very high quality stand that would be the perfect training tool, but we also wanted to make it modular so that it had multiple uses. For example, it can be easily taken down and packed into a normal carry-on sized bag, yet it can also transform into a 1 foot, 2 foot, or 3 foot tall training stand so that you could use it for multiple purposes. 

However, there are a few things that can be tricky to train on a traditional stand, and there are times when a flat surface is much more conducive to what you are wanting to achieve. This is especially true in trick and scale training! However, flat surfaces in your home are normally littered with distractions, can't be easily moved, and can also provide TOO much room for your parrot's mind (and then body) to wander off.
