Project Parrots Website is live!!

As many of you know from the lives this month, ProjectParrots.org is live! Project Parrots is a 501c3 non-profit organization I created to be able to allow people to give tax-deductible donations to my mission of working with project parrots.
I would be so appreciative if you would all take a look at the website and give me your feedback! Feel free to DM me directly or leave a comment below.
One thing to keep in mind when you're looking it over is I cannot go over the top linking to BirdTricks products - videos, yes, as long as they're the free versions on YouTube and such - but I can't use Project Parrots to promote BirdTricks as a company. I know a lot of you wanted me to link to food products and such and I wish I could but I can't. However, I am going to be having a contract made between Project Parrots and BirdTricks so that things aren't so restricted.
One of the things I was very clear to my non-profit attorney about is that I do not want to build socials for PP, I want to use my existing platform on BT to promote PP. I just don't have it in me to rebuild a whole other platform from scratch and would rather use my existing - so in order to do that cleanly, there will be an existing contract between the two so that there's no weirdness about the two companies working together!
Since BT has always supported PP in the past, it has been a whole learning curve to figure out how to properly separate the two as I continue on in this journey. All of you who have already donated, thank you so much! I am so excited to make amazing things happen - but I am ensuring I have all my ducks in a row from a legal stand point before I move forward with any major projects with PP.
However, I have about 3 birds in the que this summer - so there could be big news coming next month depending on what happens in their lives to make it possible or not.
I will keep you all posted, and thanks for your continued support, patience and understanding with the process and any feedback you decide to grace me with!

It took me a while to figure out that it was actually dot org! (I don't have a bird but like to drop in from time to time and catch up. I use the subscription as a reward to train myself!)

2023-06-01 18:23:27 +0000 UTCIt was a ton of paperwork and honestly overwhelmed me. I ended up paying someone $3,500 to do it for me which included all the filing fees and took about >6 months. I am sure you could save a ton of money researching and doing the process yourself but I didn't have the time and didn't want to risk missing anything because of my business.

When my bird rescue partner and I do home visits with potential adopters, we review many of these points and ask some of the same questions. We are considering making your page required reading! The work you do with project birds (Capri too!) is so important!!! Not just for the birds you work with directly, but for us too. As you document the journey with your project birds, we learn along with you so we can help the birds we adopted. With our adopted birds, we don't know their history, so watching you work with project birds gives us strategies to try. The end result gives us and our birds a better quality of life. I hope everyone will consider making a donation to Project Parrots. Our employer matched our donation. Please consider doubling your donation by having it matched by your employer, if that's an option available to you. Thank you again Jamie.
