One of my project birds is up for adoption...

Hey patrons! I am not putting this info out into the World Wide Web, just putting it here for you guys only to know but if you know of someone who would be the perfect companion to Fennel, please refer them. Check out the message below or watch the video:

Hi Patrons, this is Jen (one of the Jens).

I was clumsily raising a young, clingy macaw at the time that Jamie was working with Fennel as a project bird. I remember thinking how great it would be to have her problems - a bird that wanted to be left alone. (Just kidding! …kinda.)

I found Fennel endearing in her videos as I’m sure many of you did, though I watched her eat treats on 2x speed because, well, didn’t everyone?! So, naturally, when I was first told that Fennel needed a home, my heart immediately decided to step in. Several adult conversations later, our family decided that despite already working with another foster bird at the time we could make room for Fennel. Having watched the videos of Jamie working with Fennel, I did not have ambitious goals for her. I was prepared for a long (and slowwww) process of getting her back to stepping up consistently. What actually happened was that she flew past my initial goal of getting her to consistently step up and I had to come up with new goals.

I’m so excited for you all to watch this updated video on Fennel. She has come such a long way! Sometimes a very complex management and training plan is needed to get results like that, but please believe me when I tell you that what helped Fennel make all that progress was simply following the basics that Jamie and Dave are constantly repeating: observing body language, offering opportunities to interact, taking no for an answer, and diet, diet, diet.

Fennel is not a cuddly or talkative parrot, but she is interesting, comical and a pleasure to have around while you work or watch a show.

I am going to miss this girl so hard, but I know that when she leaves our home it will be to go to her forever home where she will be appreciated for the qualities that make her unique and I want that for her so much. If you are interested in adopting her, you can email me at jenhelpsbirds@gmail.com.

There will be an extensive adoption process to include a preliminary questionnaire, application, email correspondence, video interview, and in-person meeting near Houston, TX. Whether local or from out of town, her potential adopter will be required to meet her in person before taking her home. Her adoption fee is $1100 (includes documentation of recent vet exam and bloodwork).

She hasn’t 💔 she’s doing great with her foster but haven’t had anyone be the ideal fit for her yet.

Has Fennel found their forever home?

What I would do to get her. Geez, bad timing. She would love our lanai setup since she loves the outdoors. Year FL would be great for her

Fennel will find the perfect forever home among the patrons here. I had a geriatric cockatiel that loved to just hang out with people. He did enjoy scritches but otherwise wasn't cuddly at all. Fennel's personality reminds me of him. If I didn't currently have a young energetic Velcro bird wannabe Hahn's, I'd be very tempted.

Awww hope she gets the bestest home for her!!
