Tasty Tuesday - Cookbook Revamp Update

Hey all! So excited to keep you updated on this massive project of updating, redesigning and revamping our cookbook here at BirdTricks. While Allison is still editing the images going into the book, I was able to fit in some behind the scenes videos and photos to share with you all. Some recipes may not even be recognizable as the same because when sized down they look so different! Can't wait to share all this with you. Please share your feedback as well!

Tasty Tuesday - Cookbook Revamp Update

Anyway i can’t wait for the new cookbook, and as a budgie owner, I can confirm I will very much appreciate the sized down recipes. It’s a hassle to try and figure out which recipes make a suitable amount and which definitely do not 😭 I also like that more of the recipes will be things that are healthy enough to feed to a fully diet converted bird! I would love to see some of the Christmas and especially Easter recipes show the true meaning of those holidays, the birth and then death and resurrection of Christ Jesus ☺️🙏🏻. One last thing, does it bother anyone else that there are four seasons but only three main recipes? Make one more and add extra variety for our birbs!!!!

YEEESSSSS PLEASE do 4th of July!!!!!!!! That is one of the holidays that I would most like to make food themed for! -or by… idk how to word my words

just so you know - many people give matza to their animals and it can seriously injure them (it is both sharp and hard to digest)- so if we go back to your previous versions of your cookbooks, this would probably be something to consider mentioning - because unfortunately there is a need for that..

Okay sorry I lied, bonus question! Do you think it would be responsible to add a segment that encourages people to do bloodwork on their birds in the first year of conversation? to track and make sure their nutritional levels are balanced? I had dealt with Hypovitominosis A with Chako being fed wholefoods, it was easily corrected- I wouldn’t have known if I wasn’t to send bloodwork.

Guy Goldstein K

uh! I promise, this is the last point for thought! I would love to see a meal plan for people who don’t have access to organic freeze dried pellets -like we do, since it was such a painful process to go through, I would love to make that information more accessible for others - it was so difficult and overwhelming, it would make a huge impact.

Guy Goldstein K

Also, personally as I have been a bit eclectic in my diet nd nutrition approach, I really value raw ingredients over anything, the other thing - I feel like using raw corn is way healthier than using cooked corn - and I feel a bit uncomfortable with people feeding unnecessarily cooked ingredient , I feel like personally I would love seeing more raw pre-prepared ingredients over cooked ones in the recipes (grains, legumes and anything), I would love to see a balance between the cooked dishes and the raw dishes, if you can transition any of your cooked foods into raw versions of the, same thing, personally, I’d be more tempted to try them out. As I try to limit the cooked ingredients into only soup beans and maybe sweet potatoes of I feel like doing extra work hahaha.

Guy Goldstein K

You’re SO welcome Jamie 🤍🥰

Guy Goldstein K

ooo I love these ideas! Thanks, Guy!

BirdTricks

I will always however advise you try and contact someone from that religion/culture to make sure you’re not accidentally offending anyone

Guy Goldstein K

Middle eastern food could be nice too, You can make birdie hummus out of fresh raw chickpea sprouts, and add an Arab salad (fresh thinly chopped salad, often includes cucumbers, tomatoes, spearmint. I feel like you could substitute the tomatoes with red peppers)

Guy Goldstein K

As your demographic is mainly located in the United States, seeing other cultures represented can be something really cool - since has a huge diversity of cultures

Guy Goldstein K

Some Jewish holiday dishes that can be converted Shabbat - jewish Saturday dinner - Chala Bread September- Rosh Hashana (jewish new year), fish head (you can cut it out of something! maybe pumpkin, turnips or beats), honey, apple and honey December- Hannukah - Latkas, they’re traditionally made out of potatoes but I’ve seen them done with sweet potatoes and zucchini, be creative! (Fried potato fritter) Purim - march - Hamantashen - purim is a custom festival, so customs, masks and clown hats, purim rattles are also popular traditional symbols Passover - April, gefilte fish (don’t used wheat products for this one, one of the traditions of Passover is that ‘Hametz’ aka all purpose flour aka leaven is forbidden for the days of the holiday LOL) - story of Passover is about the Exodus (you can decorate egyptian symbols and the tablets of the convent) Shavuot - June, Bikkurim - straw baskets filled with young produce, fresh Cheese, freshly harvested honey (you may make a Bikkurim Basket full of whole fresh baby vegetable and nuts, the basket cab be bird safe to be completely destroyed hahah)

Guy Goldstein K

Interesting thought! I will bring it to my team meeting.

BirdTricks

Hey Jamie, it would be cool if y’all would add QR codes with links to some of the videos you have of the birds trying the recipes. Will you have a section on birdie bread and different ways it can be used?

Melanie Jones

This is awesome. Love that you are doing this.

Khellendros05

Hey Tony, we don't have answers on the business side of things as we haven't considered it yet while the project is so far out from being ready for that thought process quite yet. All energy is going into getting the project done first, that way we know much it cost us to do as well and can work out the numbers side of things.

BirdTricks

If we have purchased the cookbooks, will we need to repurchase them to get the new versions or will our account be updated when you update the files?

Tony

Lol yes keep her for a few weeks 🤣

Li

These are great ideas to get me started! Maybe I need to fly your mom over here ;)

BirdTricks

That’s awesome! What about mini dumplings with sfs in it? My mom used to feed Phoenix scallion pancake but it’s fried and doesn’t have too many vegs in there. Maybe sticky rice too with sfs to help diet convert like a sweet potato ball but rice ball instead? I have to ask my mom for more ideas, she’s the master cook lol

Li

I like Chinese new year! Any starting point on some asian inspired dishes? We make rice/noodle bowls at home so I could probably start there and research some more. My "sushi" recipe was inspired by sushi haha.

BirdTricks

How about Chinese new year? Or Asian inspired parrot dishes?

Li

It's only sized down for the other recipes, not for the SFS. Is that what you mean?

BirdTricks

Will your new recopies have both large and revised amount? I would need the larger size. Thank you

S Harrell

This is totally understandable. Thanks for all of your hard work on the part of parrots and their humans. ☺️

Robin Marlin

With how massive of a project it currently is, we haven't begin to put any efforts into thinking about this side of it yet. Patrons always get the best deals though so there's that, and for sure you will all be the first to know any decision making on that end. All energy is going into the creation process at this moment though so no answers on this yet.

BirdTricks

Looking forward to the revised cookbooks and the smaller portions are going to be a welcome change. I only have one bird.

Michele Crawford

I am excited to see what’s next and to see how we can make the potions smaller with having small birds

FayK

Jaime, I love what you and your team are doing with the revised cookbook. Will those of us who have purchased the set have access to it? I know that the smaller portion sizes would be helpful for me. 😊
