It makes the difference between a bird being adaptable to new things and experiences or traumatized by them. If you want to achieve outdoor freeflight, this needs to be taken to an extreme level so that your bird isn't at risk of flying off due to being scared easily. If your bird is scared, it should be trained to come to you for safety. If your bird takes off indoors in a spooked flight, try to contact call and get your bird to land on you for safety and to calm down.
If you guys are wondering where Zoom is during all these one on one sessions with Zip, he is out enjoying the new outdoor aviary we got this year on my folks' property. Remember, Zip only came home because she wasn't responding well to the 92 degree summer weather.
