Would love to see how you get Blueberry to rest and go comfortably into your hands!

It's a little Quaker parrot who is what I refer to as "untouchable". I can't handle him at all- wish I could. Target training was a failure, he can't see the wand and if I get it close enough for him to see he gets frightened and attacks it. I rescued him when he was about 20 years old (that's the vets' guess) and I've had him just over 2 years. He gets at least 12 hours of sleep and is on your freeze dried food. I make a birdie bread of sorts by grinding up 2-3 T. of your pellets combine them with an egg and microwave it. I scrape this into his bowl on top of his "chop" and he loves it!

I can't think of a specific trick but am really looking forward to it!!

I have a disabled bird (quaker) that can't fly that I have to keep on a flat surface also. She falls a lot so we found a large enough tote to give her space but then drilled in perches on the side about an inch of the ground so that she can perch some but not get hurt. I was worried about hormones as well. I just have to be super strict with the 12 hours sleep and I can't hold her very long because if she gets super cozy with me I will get nailed when I put her back. I sometimes feel so bad but she still seems happy. I don't know if this helps because your bird is blind but maybe the perching idea would help so he can perch. Good Luck to you!!

Wendy Cottingham

I’d be surprised if it did based on the why behind the not flying. What type of bird do you have?

BirdTricks

Great vid as usual! Question; my bird doesn't fly because he is blind, and spends all his time on flat surfaces. Is this going to promote any hormonal behavior and if so, how can I counter-act it?
