Parrot Handling: Transition From Wrist/Arm to HAND
Added 2024-03-17 15:00:06 +0000 UTCMany bird owners struggle with proper handling skills with their birds. Many birds are conditioned only to go to a person's arm or at most, their wrist. This makes moving them around, getting them in and out of a cage or on and off a perch really difficult because shoulder rushing becomes a real thing.
I've been consulting with some clients who are struggling with this very thing. Their older blue and gold macaw Pepper will only go to the husband's wrist but prefers the arm. And anytime he asks her to go to the hand, he gets bit! I made this video for them to be able to emulate with their training of their bird and decided it would be a good one to share here for all of you as well. I hope you find it valuable.
