2019-04-17 23:49:45 +0000 UTCProject birds are equally fulfilling as they can be draining - I feel very guilty for the time and attention taken away from my own flock during this period but at least initally my birds will be SO HAPPY to be in constant sunshine they shouldn't immediately notice!

2019-04-17 23:43:11 +0000 UTCI didn't ask for those kind of details on Lefty's owner's death so I don't know those answers. I'm sure no matter what there is confusion for the bird. The good news is I could welcome them in together easily since they are coming from the same place! The transportation would be the same. I didn't include hotel or food expenses for us and all that but honestly, if the expenses are simply helped I am really grateful. As Ashlyn pointed out, taking on both makes it so I have less time to consult - so will likely be changing our consultation deal to one trainer instead of two for the summer! I don't have the brain capacity for constantly changing scenarios so I'll be entirely devoted to these two birds plus our freeflight students only. I only hope the time I have is enough to make a big enough difference.

2019-04-17 23:41:55 +0000 UTCIn one of Jaimes videos she explained that it being summer most of her parrots will be outside in the aviary which is why she has this opportunity to do this with the least repercussion on her own flock. Only bringing this up in case you missed it as I know that for me that was an ease on my mind for her as well :)

2019-04-17 18:42:37 +0000 UTCJuanita, I agree transportation cost would be the same, but it's also opportunity costs and housing costs that are more, plus all the time spent editing consistent videos. I know I tried planning out some consults with Jamie and she is having to take on less consults during that time (which is less income) because her dedication will be to the birds. Also, both these birds will have to be housed separately and away from the rest of the flock (at least at first). Plus toys and pine nuts and I'm sure many other things I can't think of lol. Also, I hope that if she's able to do both, that maybe the extra support/success will allow her to take on more of these birds that need to be adopted - I see so many that need homes and it breaks my heart π While I'm not able to support one on my own, I'm happy I'm able to be a part of patreon and give some support to others who are π

2019-04-16 12:33:53 +0000 UTCIf you do take both it would end up making the cost less for you because then the travel expenses can be divided by two and make the cost per bird lower. It would then only cost more for the food but with their size it's not much. However, I think that Touche will get better in time if this is a recent clip and not something that he's had for his entire two years of life. If it's a recent thing than when his feathers grow back in he'll get back to normal. There would also be the option for the rescue to get a vet to do a feather transplant with donations for the cause. Lefty on the other hand. Does she know her human is dead? Or does she think he abandoned her? That can also have an affect on her emotional track here. I think she's the one that needs the most help as this is not something that can be fixed with just time and natural growth. What she is going through is heartbreaking as she lost her flock with probably no explanation. I therefore voted only for Lefty as you asked us to not make it a tie but I do believe that you can do both. I think that their opposing issues might actually help each other grow if you help them together.
