Update on our new PARROT HORMONES course!

Oh my gosh, you guys, Dave put together this video - I don't know if you can really call it a commercial... yet it's not quite a blooper reel... I don't know what it is but it's definitely what is to come in May!

Dave has gotten through the initial pass of this new course that will be one hour and twenty minutes of... THAT. Whatever that was + loads of education and examples too!

I got bit 3 times during the production of this course in demo-ing what NOT to do, and for good reason. And when I got upset about it all Dave had to say was, "Well, that was the point, right? Showing people what not to do since it leads to... that."

Well, yes, but I didn't actually want to get bit... I was trying to show it right BEFORE that point but darn it... it's really hard to avoid when hormones are playing such a huge role!

For my toucans+ these kinds of new products are included in your tier as they come out and you will be the first to receive them in their digital, downloadable form! We cannot wait to hear what you guys think. If you are not already at the toucan tier and think you might want this course, definitely upgrade to get a deal on it and our other courses coming this summer. We have plans for a stop screaming course as well as a new foraging/enrichment course.

If there's a course you want to see us create, let us know in a comment! This video will launch on YouTube closer to release date of the course (which we will also keep you posted on, as editing comes to a close.)

Update on our new PARROT HORMONES course!

Do you mean specifically in regards to hormones and baby birds? Baby birds don’t tend to be or get hormonal until about one year of age or so. But best to treat them like adult birds so no bad habits are formed.

BirdTricks

Ok, I didn't know why he couldn't do it. I thought it was something he should naturally know. Is there any information available that I can use to learn about what I should be doing with a baby bird?

Jeanne Okerlund

He is still pretty young, maybe start with some softer shelled nuts and show him how its done!

BirdTricks

Hi Jamie. I first want to say thank you so much for your love our teaching the rest of us how to have happy, healthy trained birds. I have lived watching your videos. They are both educational and very entertaining. I am new to owning a bird and with your wealth of knowledge you have been paramount in my learning. That being said, I asked for a conure video so I can learn as much as possible. However, I don't know what is conure specific. Basically I don't know what I don't know. I have watched both of the Family Friendly Parrot Formula as well as many of your YouTube videos. My conure just turned one in March, so I'm hoping for a long, happy life with him. Some it's the things I'm dealing with has to do with his age. I taught him how to forage but he also doesn't seem to know how to open nuts. I give him pistachio nuts that are mostly open but he eats what he can with the shell on them is done. I bought your package of nuts and cut some opening but he just doesn't know how to get the shell off. I hope this makes sense. Thank you again for all of your help!

Jeanne Okerlund

What would a full course entail to you? Details, please! So I can chat it over with Dave and figure out if we can make that happen.

BirdTricks

I would LOVE a full course on conures, please.

Jeanne Okerlund

Well, yeah, I make mistakes too haha! But I was trying to provoke hormonal behavior from Jinx and he skipped right to a bite instead - I was not set up for success and was just trying to "get the shot" for the video so I knew what I was getting into but it sucks nonetheless!

BirdTricks

And I am so excited to see this new course!

Jodi

Holy crow, JL you get bit!?! I really want to see that. Not in a bad way but you are so incredible at not getting bit, I'm very into seeing how happens. I'm so thankful for you all and all my early education. I learned so early not to touch my bird as it doesn't mean the same to them. I have a male Ekkie who doesn't have seasons, the males are just always ready. So I've never experienced any inappropriate behavior "on me" so thanks guys.

Omg I am dead right now πŸ˜‚πŸ€£πŸ˜‚πŸ€£πŸ˜‚πŸ€£ if I wasn't already a toucan and gettting this free next month, I would have this in my cart WAITING to purchase. My mother came over to the house the other day and we were TRYING to have a nice coversation but were interrupted by "the sounds of Woodrow"...which I then had to explain. It was exactly as you put it...awkward πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
