This recipe is great for birds who prefer fruit over veggies and/or pellets. It's a great one to use to get birds to try healthier foods, especially pellets. If your bird is reluctant to eating pellets in general or a new pellet you're trying to convert him onto it will be best to start with pellets in powdered form and wean onto using them in their whole form.
This recipe calls for:
2 bananas
1 tsp crushed almonds
6 tbsp Feed Your Flock pellets
1/4 tsp cinnamon
Some extra tips and ideas:
Sometimes all it takes is the slightest taste for a bird to become interested in a food. One of many ways to introduce a new food is to put a little dab of it on your bird's beak and let them lick it off. You can do this with recipes of this sticky texture.
This recipe is also ideal for converting a bird over to pellets, just please keep in mind fruit is treat food and should only be given 3x per week, maximum.
