So cute with his beak all messy from your yummy seasonal feeding system food

Connie Muttart

Bell peppers are in our fall to winter recipe. We include carrots in two out of our three seasonal recipes so yes you can over-do it if not giving enough variety but I don't think a single baby carrot a day is gonna hurt any bird by any means. We just encourage seasonal variety for balanced nutrition.

@birdtricks I’ve always thought bell peppers were not included in the seasonal feeding system because they didn’t freeze well. I still give them to my birds. They get a slice every other day, or at least once a week. I know you said vegetables are unlimited. I just wanted to confirm that can’t overdo it on certain vitamins if they eat too much of one type of vegetable? Like mine get an entire baby carrot every day. This is okay right?

I’ve never seen more shades of gray. What a beautiful Mr. Bean!

I do that too. I remember being taught that veggies of certain colors all had corresponding vitamins and minerals. Of course, that was when they told us that a bunch of bacon and eggs and a pile of greasy hash browns was a good nutritious breakfast. 👏😎

I found these fun orange and red bell peppers recently that I used. Sometimes I'm drawn to certain colors when shopping.

BirdTricks

Sometimes I use golden beets, rainbow carrots, golden cauliflower, I like to change it up with colors of my ingredients. However, nutritionally speaking all the nutritional value is the same really so paying extra for purple cauliflower isn't really necessary, just fun, haha. I also make a special winter blend for my birds that has a TON of butternut squash in it to help with their feather coloration since they aren't getting outside time and that vitamin D that way.

BirdTricks

I guess it's the combination of butternut squash and red peppers and beets and like that. I didn't see carrots in the recipe but I guess you could add some in. I do sometimes, add or exchange stuff.

There's a lot of orange in that chop. Is it the summer blend, as in the Birdtricks diet?

Ted Loebe

He is loving the chop!
