Oh Flock! w/Tusa

Dave decided to see if Tusa showed any interest in learning the retrieve...

Many of our trick training is based on our bird's natural interests. Which is why you see some birds do some tricks while others do ... well, other tricks. Tusa... well... not so much.

Wow!!! Tusa was totally not motivated to do anything. ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

I loved the โ€œargh!!!โ€ At the end!

I want to ask โ€œDid you set yourself up for success? Were you training before breakfast?โ€ Lol. Good to see that sometimes even an experienced trainer can struggle with a bird that isnโ€™t motivated. Thanks Dave and Jamieleigh!

Really valuable for me to see your attempts to work through low motivation. It's also great to show a real example of a 1-2 motivation level so I can better gauge my guys' motivation more accurately!

Lauren Holder

this is so relatable

That clumsy step at the end!! ๐Ÿ˜ thank you for showing this! Most of your training sessions look perfect and effortless, I know thatโ€™s not the case, you guys work really hard for the results you get, but ours look more like this a lot of the time. So itโ€™s really encouraging to see weโ€™re not the only ones who have less than great sessions once in a while! Just like you say itโ€™s important for the bird to fail, itโ€™s important for OUR training to see your fails once in a while ๐Ÿ’œ

Thank you. That video is honesty. Most trainers in most training specialties (horses, dogs, birds, etc) would NEVER show something like that because it shows a human side and they can't show that because then anyone really CAN train. Then THEY aren't special. Again, thank you. โค๏ธ

Totally not feeling it. Lol! I totally agree with Sherry Mathes and Rockford Electus Mom! โ˜บ๏ธ

Tusa is an absolutely stunning animal! Gorgeous gorgeous bird! Flight is his jam and I ain't mad at it. ๐Ÿ˜†

This is something that I really needed to see. Itโ€™s easy to be like Iโ€™m never going to get him to learn this. However, if even Dave can have a training session go this way maybe thereโ€™s hope for me after all.๐Ÿ™ƒ

This made me laugh. Thank you for showing Dave struggling with training. It makes us non-pro trainers feel better about our own failures. I personally have a hard time not beating myself up when a session or interaction doesn't go as well as I would like. I have a hard time NOT comparing myself to you guys. This is a good reminder that no one gets it perfect all the time and even the best bird trainers in the world (in my opinion) can have an off day.

#wtflock! He doesn't seem too interested. But I really loved seeing the process.
