In today's video I'm showing:

An extra resource on treat size is here

Bean Update! (on a little of everything...)

Comments

Some birds chew toys initially out of aggression - then realize it's fun and do it in a more calm state. I wouldn't say it's species specific though as I've seen it in all species.

BirdTricks

We just don't really keep them around honestly. No reason not to use them though.

BirdTricks

is it a thing for african greys to attack toys before they realize it’s not a threat but a fun object to play and destroy? I see Bean have done it too when you brought him the cardboard toy

Thanks for the info about peanuts. I guess is one of those foods like parsley, etc that it is up to the owner decide to feed it to his parrots or not, overestimating nutrition or parrots´pleasure despite the high toxic risk.

I noticed there were no pecans in the Treat Test -- is that a result of what you had on hand or is there a reason to exclude pecans?

Gale Rhoades

oh! lol got it!

BirdTricks

You had mentioned that he had a fear of something you would show us working through. I was just guessing.

Carmen Griggs

I don't think he's afraid to fly, but he is hesitant to try because he does not have all his flight feathers in so he mostly flies downwards

BirdTricks

Oh his eye pinning at the walnuts and then when he discovered cashews lol. He’s so adorable. Is he afraid of flying though???

Carmen Griggs

This is why we don't use them: https://birdtricksstore.com/blogs/birdtricks-blog/peanuts-and-aflatoxins?_pos=1&_sid=0d7bfce23&_ss=r there's just a lot of better options but you can can.

BirdTricks

On a treat test, can I include peanuts?

Heliodoro Hernández

Bean looks like he's doing very well adjusting. Love seeing him move around the aviary now. And the bathing is coming along!! Very nice!!

Melanie Simpson
