Sunnyside | Preening new feathers?
Added 2020-09-12 16:59:59 +0000 UTCKeeping a close eye on this guy... and yes, that is a new toy I had designed for my new BirdTricks line of toys. My tags are my favorite part of the toy - they're veggie tanned leather pressed with my logo!! So just creates another element of the toy that is safe for the bird to play with.

I'm slowly integrating my new line of natural toys in my toy boxes so be on the lookout in the next few months for this design - available in ALL sizes from small, medium and large. Very excited to be bringing some 100% exclusive toys made to you guys. Its been a really fun project.

2020-09-14 14:43:28 +0000 UTCGosh, I don’t think I’ve ever really paid attention to that aspect. If you asked Cressi she would tell you it’s not necessary at all 🙄 she truly doesn’t do it enough! I’ve mostly only noticed what provokes birds to do it (bathing, wind, getting outside into the sunshine, car rides, etc...)

2020-09-13 04:08:40 +0000 UTCHow much time to birds in captivity normally preen their feathers? It seems like Tucker spends a lot of his down time preening. He makes a special squeaky noise when he preens so I can tell even after I’ve put him to bed lol. He doesn’t pluck or mutilate any feathers and he is fully flighted, so we are lucky in that respect. Just curious as to what is “normal”?

He seems to really like Dave.......but loves when you secure his feet and take him to training session or playtime perch with new toy, etc. He seems to enjoy taking it all in. His life is so much better!
