2022-12-09 20:05:26 +0000 UTCBased on stuff that happens later, and especially based on the life of the historical Mori Ogai and the book his gift is named after (Vita Sexualis), I am 99% sure that he's not actually a pedophile. If anything, based on in-show stuff, historical stuff, and Vita Sexualis, I would guess that he's actually asexual, and the same might have been true or partially true of the real Mori Ogai, so I am honestly pretty sure the thing he says here to Kouyou is an extremely dark joke he's making. I am actually really hyped for more Elise content, too, she's a fascinating character and post-season 3 it should be safe for me to talk about some of my theories about Mori and Elise, but for now that's really all I can say. Got a lot more to say about these episodes in general (very tired RN, gonna sleep soon but I had to watch this first) but for now that's one thing I wanted to address. *edit Oh wait there was one other small detail, which is just about Fitzgerald's gift being called out as "The Great Fitzgerald" despite originally being called The Great Gatsby, I think that's basically because the BSD character Fitzgerald is really more based on Gatsby as a character in the novel rather than on the author himself. So I've always sort of interpreted that as the story making a point of highlighting that this specific character is one of the ones who's based more off a character from something they wrote rather than based more on the writer
