The Eminence in Shadow Episode 20 Reaction

The S1 finale is here and man, it couldn't have concluded any other way, imo. I love how it focused on the different side characters, setting up their journey for S2, and doing so while Shadow battles Beatrix and Iris! Pretty dang nice presentation! I am so ready for that S2 announcement! Let me know your thoughts on this episode in the comments. Thanks for coming along with me on this journey through S1!

The Eminence in Shadow Episode 20 Reaction

Comments

Beatrix managed to break one of the crowbars which shocked cid, interesting moment. Possible tease of vulnerability if she was even stronger?

Peacefinder Simply

Once more proving that the Crowbar is truly the ultimate weapon.

Overlord_Ashalon

Interesting. I wonder if they ever run out of names. XD

Anriku

Cid is too entertaining. Lets hope for a S2.

Anriku

You're right, it's him! Dio-sama! I wish they would have shown the Shades more often, man.

Anriku

That's probably true. I just find her to be hypocritical. Not really a fan of Iris.

Anriku

I don't believe she looks down on artifacts. Sorry if that's what I said or inferred. I just find it hypocritical because when she tried to justify her delusions early on, it was with the artifact excuse. Now that she knows they aren't using artifacts, she uses one herself since her ego can't fathom her position when it comes to Shadow and the Shades. I just find Iris to be a shitty character.

Anriku

She was justifying their power by saying they must have used artifacts. To me, its hypocritical to turn around and use the very thing she tried to justify her delusions with. It's not a matter of looking down on artifacts as much as her now realizing they aren't using artifacts yet uses one herself when she is outclassed. She's grasping at straws because her ego can't fathom her position when it comes to Shadow and the Shades. I don't really like Iris that much, tbh. She's probably the worst side character for me.

Anriku

I don't think Iris is necessarily looking down on Artifacts, it's simply that the only way for her to rationalize the power that she witnessed Shadow Garden wield is by claiming it comes from artifacts instead of from themselves. Well the fact that she is using this artifact here is basically a small treat by the animators, to make it possible to have Iris actually be in that fight as more than just a nuisance. They prolonged the battle a whole lot while still making clear that the only reason it lasts that long is because Shadow is letting it last that long. It was way shorter in the novel and Iris only joined the fray when she tried to immobilize him at the cost of her own life, which Shadow actually complimented her for, instead of insulting her. Also bit of information on Mithril. In this world materials have something like a mana conductivity, similarly to how it is in Reincarnated as a Sword. If you try to strengthen a normal steel sword with magic, it only has an effectivity of 10%, 90% of the magic you run through it is just lost. A Mithril Sword is considered high-end if it performs at 50 percent capacity The Slime Shadow garden uses has a conductivity of 99%. So the weapons and body suits of Shadow garden are at least twice as powerful as what is considered "high-end equipment" in that world, and that is without taking into account the ridiculous amount of mana that they have to fuel them with.

Ryuuji Gremory

I don't think she was using the artifact for its power as much as for its durability. We have seen in the past how channeling her power through her sword always ends up destroying it.

ERIC BARTON

I forgot her name but the red haired girl. I donโ€™t believe she looks down on artifacts, she never acted as it was a bad thing she just thought he must of been using one to be that powerful. Artifacts being used is normal, but can be cheap in a situation like she was in. That is how I seen it at least.

Peacefinder Simply

A little clarification, new recruits and the rank and file in Shadow Garden are given numbers, if they excel, or earn some special recognition or achievement, then they earn a name like Alpha, Beta, Delta and the others. The original seven were the only ones that didn't start as 'The Numbers'

>beat up the country's strongest swordmasters >show a nuke that can end fight from the start >"nope no nuke today lol" >gg later loser Man i love this series, i hope the MAJOR announcement next week is gonna be for a season 2 ;)

TheMonarch

If i'm not mistaken, the big bad that Perv is talking to in that wierd screen thing is voiced by the guy that did Clayman in Tensura and Dio in JoJo (he also does Benno in Bookworm, but you haven't seen that one :P ) On the boat, that was Zeta, the scout Therianthrope Shade. We saw her for a few frames early in the season, and she's in the opening, preparing to lunge.

Ragon

I see. Thanks!

Anriku

Ah, so I was right. It was Sherry, nice. Coming back for her vengeance. On her villain arc, I love it. My dude controlled the blast and rid the dark clouds. Insane! As always, Shadow has it under control. ;)

Anriku

What's crazy is that end of the battle of Beatrix, Iris vs Shadow, he wiped out the entire sky that was filled with dark clouds and stopped the rain. Seeing that, the shock on Princess Iris face, She just witnessed the power of a GOD!!! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ Also that was sherry who was reading the newspaper with the room filled with shadows wanted poster. I can't wait to see when Rose finds out that shadow is Cid, What she will do? I'm soo hyped and can't wait for the Season 2.

Salinda Bandara

The mist dragon battle happens in the mobile game, written by the author. It chronicles what the Seven shades were doing when they left Cid. Shortly after leaving him, they find evidence of a lost city in hopes of using it as a new base since they have way too many new members to keep things hidden in a little village. It gets them in a hard fight with the guardian Mist dragon until Cid comes by to help out. Then they set Alexandria as their new home base. The area where the Shadow statue is? That used to be the main palace of the city.
