Update on ALL. THE. THINGS.

Here's a big update for you guys on... everything I could think of in the moment from new project birds coming in, current project bird status', summer projects, new happenings and everything in between!

Update on ALL. THE. THINGS.

Comments

I know it's not aesthetically pleasing but I tape puppy pads to the wall behind my macaw's cage to catch the mess and I have an old large white bed sheet on the wall behind my conure's cage to catch the mess. So many fun updates! If you ever have a project bird that you have to turn away, don't forget to reach out! I'd love to help!

Super, what a smart young lady

James Maresca

That’s the same problem I have.

FayK

Definitely might be easier to clean if I could just toss them in the wash!

Depending on the color of your walls, there's some plastic at Home Depot options that stick right to the walls or you could consider plexiglass (probably the route we will end up taking). People have also suggested shower curtains.

I actually saw my chiropractor first afterwards (and since, regularly), and just saw him again yesterday. Even on days that I feel like "I don't think I need Chiro today..." I always leave being like, never mind, that was amazing! I do see him regularly and get acupuncture since it's such a relief to have those pressure points and my head/neck adjusted. The Chinese herb drink also gives me almost instant results that are just crazy better. And obviously outsourcing most of my editing has been a game-changer for lowering my amount of screen time.

I wonder if plastic curtains could work? They are lightweight and easy to clean and you could even get them with cool designs.

Joy

Thanks for all the updates! I’m glad you are taking time off to relax and get better.

CGrugs

I will for sure!!

Those look great other than being white on a blue wall so I think they'd stand out like a sore thumb in that room. But the concept is there for sure. We might go the plexiglass route though as it would also be easier to clean.

Lowe's and Home Depot have these plastic panels that can be adhered to the walls. Then just silicone the seams and you've got pretty durable walls! https://www.homedepot.com/p/1-16-in-x-4-ft-x-8-ft-Plastic-Panel-63003/202090190

Keep me posted because you never know. These folks haven’t fully committed to her yet and are waiting to see if they can do it so maybe she’ll end up elsewhere 💚

BirdTricks

You never know, it’s a potential home but until she’s there I don’t consider it for sure. They haven’t fully committed so only time will tell.

That was my original thought too but the rolls are too heavy. My second thought was using mostly used rolls so they’re lighter but getting behind the cages is pretty difficult since they fit pretty snug in there. Dave’s suggesting plexiglass but it won’t cover the trim if we do that.

Monet's story is like 🫶🏼. From bitey to become cute like now. Hope it works well in her new home .

Sofiana Kusuma

I'm so happy you found a place for Monet all though I have to say it hurts my heart a little I know I didn't have what I wanted her to have yet. (which is why I didn't ask to meet her when I might have been able to🥺) Even though now it looks like it may happen a little sooner than I thought but probably still not soon enough. Sounds like you have so many fun things happening. I will be so glad to hear when you are feeling all better. Hope you enjoy all your trips planned.

Wendy Cottingham

Thanks for this awesome update! I'm happy that you've found Monet a forever home, but sad that it is not here with Arwen and I. My dream is to become more involved with working with birds. I have no idea what that looks like, but I'm going to continue to look for opportunities.

Robin Marlin

I would love ideas on how to keep food and random whatever my birds throw off my walls. I clean mine daily.

FayK

Sounds like some big adjustments for you. Glad you’re looking after yourself, taking breaks, and not taking on too much.

Tony

Could you hang the rolls of butcher paper from the wall above the cages? Then a bar of some kind at floor level to hold the paper against the wall. The paper would then go under the cage as you do with your garage aviaries. The main things would be if getting new rolls up to the holders because it's probably heavy and difficult to maneuver.
