2021-11-22 05:34:23 +0000 UTCI love Ernst here. As a character he’s got so many layers to him, but one thing that’s definitely certain is that he means what he says. He’s a fanatical idealist, and the way he embodies the ideals of his nation; how humanity should be, should his people betray those ideals, he’s 100% backing his statement. It goes back to what he said to Theo in episode 1. If humanity is willing to sacrifice even children, then it’s better off dead. Whereas Karlstahl had given up on the ideals of the Republic due to so many years, Ernst hasn’t given up on his nation yet. But if the Federacy effectively ‘kill’ these children, even if they are the most suited for this mission, then…oof.
