I would assume the reasoning of different Resonance lies in the type of Beys. Keep in mind that Dark Resonance occurred as early as S2 with Spryzen Requiem and Shu. But it was an early iteration. S3 is when we get a much better understanding and how far it could take someone. Valt even being reminded of Aiger's dark state with Shu's. It's not that the lore is vague or that it isn't explained enough. There is multiple context that needs to be accounted for and can't be missed.

Considering that nowhere in the source material that is left in the anime states that different generations of beys (turbo, gamma, season 5, season 6) gain different iterations of resonance leaves this in a very weird gray area. Considering that a specific group of bladers have a different type of resonance depending on what generation their bey is can imply this but the traits present with each type of resonance just completely disappear when evolving your bey. Ex. If Hyde were to make a gamma bey, he would not feel his beyβs pain unless he was a special exception to the dark flux group. A lot of the burst lore is very vague

2024-07-01 15:12:28 +0000 UTCThey didn't retcon Dark Resonance at all. Keep in mind that as future seasons come and go, Dark Resonance take different shapes and forms. In Rise, the Dark Resonance is Dark Flux. And I can't name the one in Season 5 since that's a spoiler. Benevolent and malevolent forms of Resonance are found in almost every season.
