Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2012 S2 Episode 22-24 Reaction

Shredder's got some accountability issues. The Ho Chan episode was amazing. Leatherhead is back and looking a bit older. Onward to the penultimate and S2 finale! Enjoy.

I don't know if I'd call Tiger Claw scary, but he'd make a much less annoying main antagonist.

JD Dumas

I have a feeling ill like the other Shredders more. I think Rhazar and Tiger Claw are scarier than this Shredder. I think you might be right. I love how this season ended off.

I don't mind deluded narcissistic villains if they're entertaining. For example, John Garret in Agents of Shield, Judge Frollo from Hunchback of Notre Dame and Allan Rickman's character in Sweeny Todd (I can't remember his name). But 2012 Shredder isn't entertaining because he's supposed to be scary but he's just not. Side note: I think you'll REALLY enjoy the Season 3 premiere. No spoilers, but I believe it's right up your alley.

JD Dumas

Agreed. I feel bad for Splinter.

Yeah, I was hype for this Shredder, and I still like to see him, but I'm somewhat let down by the characterization for him. It's realistic, like you mentioned, as he is blinded by his own rage and hatred while also being a clear narcissist.

Anriku

It's a nice subtle detail for sure.

I love seeing Karai’s development through the series simply being shown by her saying thank you to Leo. It’s not only good for her character growth but it also helps develop her and Leo’s dynamic with each other. Even when I was little I found their dynamic and growth the most entertaining.πŸ˜…

I always found the 2012 Shredder to be more irritating than threatening. I mean, his entire motivation is that he's bitter because some girl didn't like him and no matter what he always acts like he's victim and that everyone else is wrong. I know villains like this I meant to be more 'realistic' but to me they just come off as uninteresting. It's the same with Belos from Owl House. I can't stand pathetic villains. 80s Shredder wasn't menacing either, but he wasn't supposed to be. He was a comedic villain, and he was fun to watch. The Shredder from Rise was pretty sick, for what little we saw of him. But the final battle in the last episode is beyond epic. 2003 Shredder was the definitive Shredder, at least in my opinion. A ruthless, power-hungry psychopath. He might lie to others to get what he wants, but he never lied to himself. He knew he was a monster, and he loved it. The perfect Saturday morning cartoon villain.

Pretty disappointing we didn't get to see Karai chilling with the Turtles in the lair a bit more. Also, Splinter cannot catch a break

Shall we…………….finale?

Quonte Owens

That's a great idea. I'll put it on the movie list alongside Beyblade Sol Blaze movie.

Anriku

AH, that's pretty cool. I heard of that movie, but never got a chance to watch it. Maybe a reaction for the side channel. ;)

Anriku

You should watch batman vs tmnt some time.

Ho Chan is a parody of the villain Lo Pan from the movie β€˜Big Trouble in Little China’, who was also an ancient Chinese sorcerer. Even cooler, Ho Chan is voiced by James Hong, who was the actual actor for Lo Pan in the movie!
