This is why I watch these. Most people who saw it in the theatre already knew the Thermians were aliens because the trailers said so. It's fun to see the reaction of someone who didn't even suspect.

Gilligan’s Island is a sitcom from the 60s about seven castaways stuck on a deserted island that was very silly and broad and not at all serious. One of them is a professor who literally makes a car out of bamboo and a radio out of coconuts but they can’t figure out how to get back to civilization. So for them to interpret it as a dramatic and dire situation is very funny. “Oh, those poor people…”.
