Not surprised. The Pretenders is one of those Transformers lines where people remember individual members more than the line itself. The most iconic Pretender of all was Bludgeon, a Decepticon tank who could become a skeletal samurai.

2024-04-11 16:11:34 +0000 UTCWay back in the G1 era, there was a line of Transformers called the Pretenders, and what made them so cool is that in addition to their vehicle modes, they also came with detachable shells that let them disguise themselves as organic lifeforms. The Autobots could disguise themselves as humans and the Decepticons could disguise themselves as horrifying alien monsters. Needless to say, everybody wanted the Decepticon Pretenders. The two mutants in this episode are homages to two of those Pretenders, Bomb-Blast and Submarauder.
