2022-10-24 22:49:05 +0000 UTCThe book it is based on, Frank Abagnale's "autobiography", has a lot of material that either cannot be proven, or has been specifically debunked or otherwise disproved by actual prison, military and court records. And Spielberg further changed the content for, you know, movie making/entertainment reasons. So, instead of "it is an incredible true story", let's go with "based on a story that was once told by somebody based on remotely similar events of their life, some of which might have actually happened". You know, like most Hollywood "true stories".
